I've been trying to decide where I want to stop modding (for a while..can you ever stop? :D ) and was wondering how often do things break for you? Be it engine parts or drivetrain or whatever, just curious.

It's going to be different for each person. It also depends on how well you support the modifications you put in. I have a 2G GST with about 230whp and I am broken down every week. My buddy has a 90 GSX pushing 300whp and he only breaks down when he is working on the kinks in his new parts.

I think 'Kinks in the new parts' would be a big area for problems to fall into. It basically seems like that's constantly my problem. Just about every work that I've ever done on the car, I've seen some surplus of other things breaking soon after that ends up costing me more than the original problem.

But - I still love my baby :D

I have been at the 350-400whp area for 2 years now and knock on wood, have had zero problems.

Knock on wood again. ;)

The only thing on my car that has broken on my car, that I didn't cause, was the Timing Belt skipping and trashing my head.

Everything else has been due to wear and tear.

I havn't had any problems that hasn't been caused from my own stupidity.

I think this is the major problem most people have. Be carefull and smart and it'll last hella longer.

I have been with 250-300 whp for the last year now too, and have had no problems so far, I am with PaleDSM, knock on wood. The only thing I have had to replace was getting a new clutch because of wear and that is about it.

I love my 2g Spyder, she is my baby girl :D . I say, Always keep modding! :thumb:
Not a. The.

I am at around 270 hp and haven't had any problems besides regular maintanence (brake pads, timing belt change, ect.), but i am going to need a new clutch soon. (Knock on wood)

Not every car is the same. I know of some at 400whp that hasnt broke anything. But for me at 326whp, ive been thru, center diffs, rear diffs, driveshafts, and x-fer cases. No im not a bad driver nor do i go out and pound the hell out of my car till it falls apart. I guess its just my bad luck. Ive never actually had a problem with the tranny itself so far besides the center diff, knock on wood, but im sure its only a matter of time. Never had a problem with the motor internally either for being all stock. So for me its just the drivetrain thats isnt holdin up so far. But you cant expect to put a few grand into a car and expect it to hold without doing it right. Especially when they only come from the factory with 195-210bhp :talon:

Man I hear you about the being stupid part :D
Thanks guys, helps to know I probably won't be grenading transmissions left and right just driving it. 600 or so dollars of fuel mods (injectors, logger, safc-ii) won't be so bad.

That and, evo 3 16g would pwn the 14b I was planning on getting :thumb:

i am in the 300 range. i break every week today my rear locked up on me 3 week befor that t-case went. i can keep goin with them but like some one said i still love my baby my car gets more air time then planes. hahahah sorry had to say it :dsm:

My car's around 300 whp. From launching it just one time with just the Venom 400 on I blew my tranny (yes it's an automatic :( ) But that's really the only problem I've had :)
