have a 95 eagle talon tsi. i am currentlyin the middle of a rebuild. the car has a copletlely rebuilt engine with a new head, ross racing pistons , eagle rods and crank, all forged. the block was resurfaced and the engine is running a 14b turbo. it also has mods such as 3'' VRS turbo back exhaust, mbc, boost gauge, fmic, hardpipe intake with k&n filter, 1g bov(recirculated), performance tires and some other minor upgrades. what else will i need toreach my 300-350 WHP goal thanks guys.

know i am taking the hard way with the 14b but the next turbo i buy wont be soon and ut wont be a 16g . probably a 60 trim like the fp red. and some 1600 cc injectors . safe to say in 4-5 years it will be a race only car.
but for now how can i get 300 -350 on the 14b?

Theres no way that the 14b can make you 350whp. It might make you 350 crank horsepower but thats pushin it.

Well, reaching that goal with a 14b will be extremely hard. If I were you, I would go with 16g, 650 cc injectors, SAFC, walbro 190 fuel pump (rewired), ported 2g manifold. ported 02 housing and that should get you to your goal with a good tune. You are doing all the work right now, might as well get the right things to make that kind of power. If you stick with a 14b and stock fuel system, I don't think you will reach that goal but then again thats my 2cents!

I think that you WILL make between 300-350 hp. Guys he did say between. I do not think that it will make 350 but should make at least 300. Make sure that turbo is in good shape and port everything! Good luck, Keith.

thanks, and ya i knew 350 was rediculous for a 14b just want over 300. so i have a few questions. what does water injection do and what do u think im at with the mods i have now?

Water injection is where you inject a small amount of meth/water into the uicp. Usually a 80%meth/20% water. What it does is lower intake temps drastically and lowers chance's of detonation. Allowing you to run more boost. Tests have shown as good as 105-110 octane on pump gas.

I also agree you should go with a larger turbo.

Water injection basically cools the air carge so that you can run more boost/timing without knock. It helps suppress knock alot. There is really no way to tell what you are at now. Make sure you get a good tune and you will be there. Thanks and let me know if you have any more questions, Keith.

Well maybe you guys have not heard of www.joebucci.com he ran 10's an the 14b with of course ever supporting mod you can do. But you guys have also forgot that he has forged pistons with that said I have a friend that built a honda civic with ls vtec (comes from the Acura integra) with lower compression pistons than stock but forged so he could use a little NOS and he said that the forged pistons alone gave him a ton of hp even though he had lowered the compression. So I dont think this is far off.

TalonTsi31 - I am also building a motor but with Wiseco pistons and Eagle rods. And I am running a rebuilt head. But everything else will be stock for now but I have a holset sitting in my garage begging to go on but I have to get some money to buy the supporting mods to make it run right. But good luck with the build and if you ever dyno it let us know what you get.

300whp is difficult to impossible to achieve with the 14b. It has been done, but only by a few people, and it took a monumental amount of effort to achieve. You're pretty much going to need to lock the the wastegate shut and let it run flat out above 4500rpm or so, and even then, it'll be a challenge. Don't expect the turbo to live particularly long anywhere near that horsepower level either - it's way off the deep end of its compressor map and outside of its design limits.

Not to dissuade you or anything, I'm all about pushing the limits of various things and being cheap, but dont' be disappointed if/when you don't meet your goal.

i will absolutly let you know i am still building and this is why i have not dynoed yet. i was just wondering if i was on the right track. i have faith in my little 14b and with some serious tuning and one of the best engine brand internals i think i can make 300 whp. any one else have some tips let me know thanks.

Forged pistons (or rods, or cranks, for that matter) do not affect horsepower in any way. When you lower compression, you reduce power as well. Lower CR allows you to run more boost without cylinder pressures getting out of control.

Forged internals will handle more power, not make more power.

1600cc injectors??? That sounds a bit overkill.

this will be a full on race car next time i build and i think with a 60 trim 1200cc injectors are not unreasonable.
but thats not what this thread is about it is about if you have suggestions on how to make 300-350 on a 14b

Youd be better off getting a evo16g turbo and trying to make that power
because even though the evo3 is rated to make up to 375 ( not that many ppl havent gone way over that ) but generally the average person on a 16g barely makes over 340whp so imagen the difficulty on a 14b.
Maybe with a ton of nitrous and the boost all the way up before the turbo literally self destructs, and then yea you could do it... Good luck on that one. Id be happy if my 14b had made 300 whp much less 350. Im hopen for 350whp now on a 16g...

You WILL be able to hit the 300 hp mark with the 14b. Guys he said in his post that the next turbo that he wanted to buy was like a 60 trim or something along those lines ( I recommend a Holset HX40/50). You need fuel mods and a great tune, it can be done.

It can be done but your going to spend a lot of time tuning, and time is money, I would suggest selling the 14b and getting at least a 16g though, it will be a lot easier to reach your goal. I wold also suggest getting DSMlink, 750cc injectors, walbro 250 hp, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, a wideband o2, and running either E85 or water/meth injection or both.

Good luck.

I'snt there someone runnin 11's on a 14b?? Or was it 12's? I saw it somewhere on this forum, maybe you can go look on his profile to see what he's running in his car.

how bout a set of brian crower 272 cams, and a port and polished head?

I tend to agree here. Unless you end up going with some 280's or something higher when you make it a full on race car, the cams will help with this goal.
