Does anyone know of a decent aftermarket option for a 1gb 7 bolt timing belt hydraulic tensioner? I saw somewhere that it may be possible to use a 2g tensioner if the tensioner arm and some other components are also changed. Has anyone done this and know what all would need to be changed for a 2g tensioner to work in a 1g 7 bolt?

I think you saw my comment in somewhere. I have never done this myself yet since my 1g 7 bolt tensioner is still working. So I can't be 100% sure.
But I am sure that if use the 2G tensioner on a 1g 7 bolt block, you would need to replace all tensioner components, the tensioner arm and the tensioner pulley too. And would require to grind the wanter pump bolt and/or arm to clear interference. Also when tension the belt, you would need to do it in the 2G way by rotating the tensioner pulley counterclockwise.

Okay, thanks. My current tensioner is still working too but it is getting fairly old so I want to change it just for peace of mind. I may try it out on one of my cars to see how it goes. I will update this thread if I do it.
