I bought a 98' GSX it is completely stock except for the ACT 2600 Clutch, and lightweight flywheel. I have about 3,000 to do some maintenance and UPGRADES with, I know where I want to start but I am looking for the cheapest places to find it. I want to do a rotating assem. Update. I found a "kit" on turbo garage for 2560.00 but I was hoping i could find on alittle cheaper elswhere, because that "kit" didnt include gaskets, seals, or a crank. Plus I would like to up date the fuel filter and air intake aswell. Can anyone help me?

Throw a 14b on there and buy the needed parts for that. Save the other 2500 or whatever you have left for repairs. The moment you mod your car, is the moment things start going downhill.

I was wanting to update/upgrade the cams, pistons, crank, bearings, etc... because the car has 118,000 on it and god only knows when the last good maintenance was done on her. And from all of the posts I have read on here, If I ever really want it to be able to run a good amount of boost consistantly. It is a good idea to start on the inside and work my way out to the bolt-ons. And its not really about Saving the money or whatever. The 3000.00 I have is budgeted into the car already. So it will find its way into it somehow. I just want to know where I can get the most bang for my buck. My over all goal is to have a low 12's, high 11's D.D. So like I stated already I believe It is better to do the internals now, and then do the bolt-ons later, when i know the motor itself can handle them.

Also when I say update/upgrade the rotating assembly I don't mean that i want to stroke it. I dont really want to bore if i can get away with it. Forged pistons, and bigger lobs at most, nothing crazy.

just look on the classifieds here on dsmtuners and buy from people looking for money. There is always people on here that sell new or hardly use for cheaper than the part is worth. That will let your 3000 go a long way.And don't forget maintenance first because a 99 cent coolant hose blows and your 3000 is down the drain.tune up,all hoses, all belts including timing belt is a good start.

You shouldn't even be thinking about rotating assembly yet. Do all the maintenance in the service manual....all of it, choose the turbo you want (keeping in mind if its going to be a DD or track car), then research and purchase the supporting mods you will need (you will be surpised how many you need) then purchase the turbo last.

Honestly the stock engine is good for about 400 hp, depending on how well it was maintained, so you don't even need to be thinking about internals at this moment.

You can run high 11s on stock motor, cams would help a lot though.

After a t-belt/balance shaft belt and waterpump job, do a compression test. If it's decent then mod away.

If I could do it all over again I'd do all my fuel mods first, then exhaust, then turbo since you have a t25.

hx35
cams
clutch
welded center diff
FMIC
You have a 1998 so the piddly cost of reflashing it
fuelpump and injectors

400whp car all day long :)

How much and where? These are the things I really need to know. I already have an ACT 2600 w/ light weight flywheel. What size, cams?

Also I just found a manley assembly for 1800.00 on EXtreme PSI. so I am debating on that. I know mantenance is key. That is already bought and paid for, I just need to get home so I can get it done. I guess i want to do rebuild for "peice of mind" the shop that is going to do the labor will give me a guarentee, and they are really good.

Don't jump into "rotating assemblys" or a motor rebuild unless you got a good 5-7k to do it right.
There are handfuls of people running 11's on stock bottom ends.

Get some crower 272 or hks 272 cams and you don't neeeeed to upgrade your springs and retainers.
ARP headstuds so the head wont lift.
And a bigger turbo with all the supporting mods.
Flash your ecu (search for Ceddy's posts). and your good to go.

Your engine is what i would consider. "low mileage", it's not too used up and is still capable of pushing power without giving up reliability.
Do all your maintenance first, fluid changes, etc.
Once you get all these things done, start looking into upgrading the fuel system, in your case for 12s/11s, a holset or properly done 16g setup would be great.

If you want to keep it simple, i'd say go with :
evo3 16g
650cc injectors
walbro 255
afpr
apexi safc or safc2
272/272 cams

All these should get you well into the 12s with some good tuning, moderate boost level, and good launch.

I'll bite:

hx35- 300 from diesel forum classifieds plus 250 for bullseye turbine housing
cams- 180 to 450 delta regrinds or FP2s
clutch- 450 ACT
welded center diff- 100 jacks transmissions
FMIC- 400 PTE 600whp cooler with ebay universoal piping kit
You have a 1998 so the piddly cost of reflashing it- 150 EvoScan
fuelpump and injectors- 400

2500

Come to hazleton PA, 18201 or pay for UPS freight shipping. I will sell you a brand new 2.3 stroker 6-bolt longblock, With cams of your choice (264/272/280), For $3,000. All brand new. Including a full 3" apex'i n1 turbo back exhaust, And every single nut/bolt new for the complete engine, Will also include a free brand new act streetlight 6-bolt flywheel. Also have a 6-puck clutch kit that I'd give you... Can't beat that deal, And you can see everything in person, Or via video/pictures/phone. Also will include a FMIC core.

Also have 2.5" blowthrough dejon piping with 2g MAFT translator, And a dejon tool no maf intake pipe with k&n filter, New aswell ;) ;)

Entire engine can be broke-down upon your arrival to show exactly what you are getting, And then re-assembled right in front of you :)

EDIT: I would also throw in a 3-gauge pod, And 3 gauges for you, Along with an MBC, And an AFPR.

I wasn't really wanting to go with the 6-bolt but I will keep that in mind. like I said 3000.00 is my limit for now, And in order to install a 6-bolt i would have to buy other things to make it work so I would have to see what all i need to do that

It would be easier if you were here, Because I can have you come over and talk in person. But anyways, You would need a 6-bolt flywheel, rre jumper harness, 2g motor mount shaved to fit a 6bolt block, etc... All of which I have, Again... Brand new and included with the motor. I'm thinking about putting it all up on ebay, And then selling my titan copper gsx I just painted, As a shell , i have been building it ground up, for this motor to go in but am running out of motivation being I'm doing 3 other gsx's at the same time. Kinda hard bouncing back and forth on them all.
