A stainless rose i made for my wife. Pretty simple, used a plasma cutter to make the petals and pliers to bend them into shape

Dude if you need a plasma, we can ship DHL for cheap. Well cheaper than the rest.

W00t for new toys. 2 pair of longevity tig gloves. Believe it or not they are awesome tig gloves.
Got a new machine torch for the plasma and a sweet avanni fume extractor.

So I finally tried it all out, I def. like the lightweight feel of this torch vs. the 17.
Found some scrap metal to practice on, used a wire wheel on my bench grinder to clean it up and i just wiped it off with a clean towel.

Here I just practiced running a bead, the first one I don't think pulse freq was turned on, the second one it was up pretty good, the third longer run it was turned pretty low.

Soooooooo I sold one of my tig welders to a guy less than 1 year ago. Taught him how to tig...6 months later he gets a job as a fabricator...then gets a job at a better shop as a fabricator and driver...now still les than a year he just started at another shop as a fabricator. Very well known company. And I sit here thinking why the hell am I behind a desk. Should I apply and see if they are hiring more fabricators and build race cars and parts? Even though I have been out of the car scene for a long time.
Or do I stay with what I am doing ?.?.?

I am very happy for him and know he will do great. Just wondering if I will be bored welding all day. Or if it will make me want to sell my stuff at home because I would do it all day at work?

listen if you love cars and welding in its self then get a job doing hat you love!

I make cars chassis and other parts all day then if i got time i will work on my own stuff on weekends, i still love what i do and always will do been doing this for 2 years now.

if you had to ask the question about this then your not on the right job to start with so get up find a job welding and make a better life for yourself and more money!

when i move to florida in a few years in heading straight to a car shop where they build lots of cool stuff!

That's the other half of it. I love cars, but sold the Dsm years ago. Probably will never be able to afford an evo or any other fun cars. Rather out cash in the kiddies bank for college. Just don't want to get into a job that makes me want to have to have a car or keep up with the scene. Ya know?

nope i dont know haha. if you dont want a car then why do you torment yourself with making parts for cars? its only going to eat you up and make you give in so do it sooner then later i say. i understand kids college comes first and house etc etc but dont put off if you like welding and then ask questions like your original question!

Backside of welds.

This time I concentrated on keeping the tip close and as perpendicular to the metal as I could, I had troubles with moving along at the right speed and foot control.

Seems awfully hot. Use the largest cup you can get away with.

I ordered a #8 and #10, they should hopefully be here this coming week.

Torch control looks decent. Try using filler now :thumb: and more gas, like 15cfh on a regular collet if thats what your using.

I believe it's a regular collet, thanks. I'm starting to get a bit tired of not welding anything but to be fair I'm more worried because I'm running out of scrap to weld. I thought I had a lot more.

Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it.

Same again, having a hard time with moving the puddle with filler

120 amps seems awfully hot, i would probably go closer to 70-80ish.

Try making a puddle, dab the rod for just a second, move the torch a little over then pause, dab it again for just a second, move the torch a little more then pause, etc. Then once you get the rhythm you can start trying to just move continuously and dab.

horizontal fillet test 1/4 mild steel, around 135 amps. 3/32 er70s2 gas lens #7 cup.
