Hello all! Happy to be back after 5+ years! (still a probationary member, I see)
Anyhow, I purchased an engine that I now believe, after some research, came off a 1988+ Galant GVR4 Evo RS. that should have no more than 60k miles (sure looks that way). I would love to use that low-mileage transmission instead of my beat +160k stock tranny.
I felt it was easier buying used than rebuilding because I have little experience going that route.
I have a 1991 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD with the stock 3-bolt rear.
I have a transmission with the KW5M332 NPXV code.
Both transmissions have their respective transfer case.
Both transmissions' output splines have the same count.
I'm sure I can interchange the transfer cases if I wanted to but not sure if they match internally.
I can't see any difference in appearance on both transmissions aside from the stamped part numbers.
I don't have much info on the my USDM tranny.
My question?
I was wondering if this Galant VR4 Evo's W5M332 WQYK tranny would work in place of my NPXV tranny without blowing up the center differential. I am also okay with staggered wheels/tires if it comes bypassing the difference in wheel rotation.
I pulled the following info on the GVR4 tranny from another site (4gtuners?):
