Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

Keep the 50-trim, install the 255 (re-wire it)(see the fuel pump rewire guide), get a AFPR, MBC (VooDoo III off eBay for $15), and some gauges (GlowShift are nice and cheap also off eBay), check for boost leaks (thoroughly) install and set the MBC for 15 Psi and call it a day. If it still "runs like crap" come see us with a more detailed definition of "runs like crap". I've also checked your profile and everything is in the wrong place. I also don't see what plugs you are using. If your not using NGK BPR6ES Plugs then get NGK BPR6ES Plugs and gap them and put them in. Oh and if you are running a 50-trim on the stock plastic POS blow off value then I'm not surprised it's running like crap. Get rid of it and get a new BOV, a used 1G BOV is a great choice you can get off eBay.
Good luck, Tom

No such thing as a direct bolt on 35r.

PTE makes one.

"Model GT3582R - Max Rated HP: 640(680 with S-Comp Hsg) This turbo gives awesome power with fast spool-up
Compressor wheel dia. 61mm -56trim / Spool-Up 3800rpm on 2 liter
This is a racers favorite - good on the street also. Get the best of all worlds for your built engine. Cams, intake, head porting, & higher rev limiter are recommended. With a stroked engine, you'll have all the power you can handle.
GT35 Turbine wheel in a .63 A/R housing for good exhaust flow
This turbo comes with your choice of the E , S or SP compressor housing. The S & SP(anti-surge) give the potential for +50hp (was $90-$144 option). "

Although... a huge ass GT35 turbine wheel ... and stick it in a tiny 0.63 A/R turbine housing - WTF?!

Back on topic - FP Big T28 and their 17psi high pressure actuator. www.forcedperformance.net

But if you have a 50 trim, there is no sense in stepping down to a T28, just get some bolt on mods for it. Is it internally gated? How much boost are you running? Check for boost leaks??

Hey guys
I have had this project going for a little while now. Buying things here and there, but now I have them all to get started. I need to know if it is possible to use a gt17 on a 420A motor or if it will kill my airflow (not produce enough)? I have the gt17 laying around the house but if the turbo wont handle 5psi on my car should i just go with a t3/t4 hybrid?
The gt 17 is somewhat smaller then a t25 on stock 4g63t So even I Q? it.
So let me know:rolleyes:

From what I gather, it is good to about 250bhp on a 2.0, so speculatively you may just be maxing it out at around 7-8psi.

If somebody has any better GT17 information, please, do-tell.

yea I though it might get me to the 200bhp level, but was q? the airflow of it. The compression sized is 57 but the exhuast sized is .17 which would mean it probably boost's at idle.
Does anyone know if this turbo will boost at idle or if it has a lag around 1500 or so???

i just had my 16g go out. I have a 2.3 liter stroker motor in my car with supporting mods.
i wan to produce around 450 to 500hp at the crank and i really don't know what turbo should i look at to buy. i have been told by a few turbo shops that a 20g won't get me there and a 16g is to small to run on my stroked motor.any info on this would be great
thanks :thumb:

Fp3052 is worth peny of peny . Full Ball Bearing turbo with really nice FP turbine housing .
if you want to get more power then you can use the FP3065 like me .
FP3065 is the joint of power and speed . the better name of FP3065 is garrett GT3040 or GT3082R .
it so close to GT35R but spooling faster .

FP3065 : GT40 compressor hosuing wheel , GT30 Turbine Housing wheel .
GT35R : GT40 compressor housing wheel , GT35 Turbine Housing wheel .

If you really have money , welcome to power planet .

I'm running a bullseye to4B 50 trim. it spools very quickly, and will easily get you to 400hp + mine is setup to run an external wg off of my exh. manifold. It is also for sale if ya want it, seein as how I've gotta part my car out. It has less than 1500 miles on it also.

Ok my motor took a poop so im getting one built right now. heres whats getting done.....2.0 Block-stock crank with 60000 miles on it, Balanced rotating assembly, weisco 8.3:1 pistons .20 over, ACL bearings main and rod, 1g rods, ARP rod bolts, ARP main studs, Balance shafts removed, Hot tanked block, 1mm oversized valves, stock springs and retainers. Ported intake and exh side, HKS 272's Mitsu MLHG And heres my other mods....

FMIC, buchar 3in turbo back, tial 35mm gate off o2, SAFCII, PLX WBo2, FIC 550's, evo GT manifold, MBC, wally 190, Greddy type s, Prosport oil presure, water temp, boost gauge, ACT 2600, ACT streetlite flywheel, K&N filter, Apexi TT, Fidanza short thro shifter.

What would be a good turbo for my application....im looking to make anywhere from 400hp-500hp And im not looking to rev over 7000 RPM's

Before getting into which turbo I don't think that your 550cc injectors can support the amount of airflow required to get you to your HP goals. Given your choice of cams you definitely want a turbo that will not drop off at higher rpms.

Well yes the 550's will be a little small my buddy is going to give me his 650 for my 550's but i am deff looking for a turbo that is not going to drop off at high rpm's
