ok i am going to get a new clutch for my car. i was wandering which one i should go with. i was thinking of the act 2100. Dont think i want the 2600 because it is a daily driven car and will only go to the track a couple times a year. if there are some other brands you all would suggest let me know. i want a good streetable clutch for a cheap budget.

Got me a act 2100, street disc, and i love it and bang on it for the pat 10,000 miles with no problems. never used anything else so i cant say about other brands and i wont unless i use them myself.

I will say you defiantly do not want a unsprung clutch for a daily. I bought a 1g awd that had a 2600 with an unsprung 6 puck and that was awful to drive every day. I couldn't imagine getting stuck in traffic with that thing.

I use the ACT 2600 with street disk that I got a good deal on brand new. Grabs good and seems to hold up well! Next time around I will probably go with the South Bend disk though.

With that turbo you'll need at least an act2600 or equivelent pressure plate. Do not use a sprung 6-puck, the springs pop out of them with abuse. I ran a 2600 and a 6-puck unsprung on my galant vr4 with a hx40 and loved it. It is not hard to get used to an unsprung clutch, and you won't be replacing your clutch after a few good launches and 30+ psi pulls. I've had a few different sprung puck clutches in different cars and they all lost the springs eventually.

I am going to be putting my 16G setup in my Talon in a couple weeks.

I have all supporting mods to run 18-20psi, except a new clutch. What ACT setup is best with this? It is my DD with the occasional weekend track time.

AWD.

Thanks! (and yes I searched, couldn't find much)

I have the competition clutch stage 2 carbon kevlar and love it I went many 11 second passes with this clutch on my car and I drive it on the street. I personally think this is the best street clutch for the AWD dsm
It uses a 2700 lb pressure plate and a full face sprung carbon kevlar disk.

The ACT 2600 lb Pressure Plate is a nice piece. I would suggest complementing it with, either, the ACT Street Lite Flywheel or the Fidanza Lightweight Aluminum Flywheel. I strongly recommend running a South Bend Clutch Kevlar Disk. It'll take just about anything you can throw at it.

This will be my clutch set-up. It was recommended to me by a friend of mine, who also is a well known member on this site - Twicks69. HE KNOW HIS STUFF! And I trust him.

Scroll to the bottom of the page and read both of the testimonials that Tim left for this clutch disk.

So a 2600 with a street disk would be good? Also what else do I need for an install/supporting mods.

I already have SS clutch line, and a new slave and master cylinder.

If I pair it with a flywheel, does that need to have anything done to it? Do I just take it out of the box, put it all together, and bolt it up?

Thanks.

Also, streetlite or prolite on the flywheel? Or should I go fidanza?(sp?)

If you go to the link I posted and read the testimonial Tim left, than you can answer your own question:thumb:.

The short and to the point answer, is no. There is no modification needed. Paired with a Fidanza Lightweight Aluminum Flywheel, all the parts can come right out of their respective boxes and installed on the car. ACT's lightweight flywheel should be fine, as well.

I got a ACT 2600 w/streetdisk and fidanza flywheel. Getting it installed thursday.

Am I correct in assuming I should stay out of boost for about 500 miles to break it all in?

fidanza 3.2 with the fidanza aluminum flywheel

I have this exact setup and i hate it.The clutch chatters and the car vibrates alot at 2k and 4k on partial throttle.I am going back to a stock flywheel and an ACT2600/street disc.Just sharing my personal experience.:|

So its been about two weeks. I went about 250 miles (ACT says 300) and then went to do some 3rd gear pulls and it held great.

The clutch is stiff, but I enjoy that. It grabs pretty close to the floor, but I figure thats a good thing, and I got used to it within two days.

Love this setup.

It's not necessarily a good thing. It just means that your clutch is probably not disengaging fully. It should be exactly in the middle of the pedal travel. Halfway up and halfway down.

There are many theories about the extended slave rod. Mine is that it should NEVER be used in any circumstances. Unneeded...

Did you use a resurfaced stock flywheel? Or did you buy a new flywheel?

Replace the fork and pivot ball and shim it properly.
