I just watched a video of another gs-t with an evo 3 16g on street tires run a 12.6... its going to be sweet when I am running those numbers in my gs-t... :thumb:

Good luck. It isn't that simple with street tires.

it's going to be a long time too. 12.6 on slicks takes a lot of money. 12.6 on street tires takes more.

Hopefully I'll have some numbers for you guys in the spring, unless I chickenshit out and go buy an AWD. It's embarrassing getting 60'd on the street by a mini van.

Anyways, I'll be running an 18g (for now, unless I upgrade), Comp 200s and maybe soon I might pick up a JM Fab SMIM. Hoping for 12.5s on the best street tire I can buy come spring time. I'd assume I'm close to a 13.0 as I've always put the whoopin on this trans-am who does 13.1/13.3 very consistenly.

Mavisky, it looks like me and you will be in the same boat, 13.5s at 120mph. ROFL

I'm not calling BS. But...

On 18" wheels at only 19psi, it would take one hellava a track w/ a strong tail wind to run a 12.8. Was the car lightened? If so than its possible. Also I don't think theres an 18" street drag tire either for our cars. So yes, the track would need to be made out of VHT basically.

I'm just trying to keep things in perspective for some of the less "experienced" people on this board. Maybe you seen the time yourself, but clocks have been mis-tripped before at dragstrips. Did he back the run up w/ another 12.8? One time, I seen a N/A 1.6L civic run a 10sec on street tires.
BFG Drag Radial 245/40/18 works all day

Hey guys, Im a newbie 2 the forum and i bought me a nice 97 Gst.. but Im Freshing the motor up and my shortblock is ready for installation and i look forward 2 pushing this car to its limits. also... Anyone raced a 4.6GT Mustang with a SUpercharger?? IF so what were u running and how did u turn out. win or loss.. 1 or 5cars. My Best friend running a 03 Gt with vortech.. and im looking forward to putting my gst out in front.. I plan on running 18psi on 660s with safc2 plus the mods i have in my Profile.. Take a look guys let me know what you think.... Thanks, Larry :dsm:

Larry, do some research before youi buy the mentioned mods. I'm not trying to be a dick by saying that just trying to tell you for your own good so you odn't have to spend more money than you need to. First off you don't need 660's to run 18psi on the stock turbo. SEcond you are going to need alot more than the t25 to beat a sc'ed stang or at least an sc'ed modular stang. I recomend you read alot and then start buying mods, don't buy mods then read I did it once and I won't do it ever again.

245/40/18 drag radials fit! Maybe they would if the car wasn't lowered and he used spacers. My 235/40/18 SO-3's are the limit on my car w/out spacers. Any wider and I rub the knuckle and risk rubbing the fender.

i have stock wheels at stock height. i had 245's put on and they rubbed. i had them taken off about ten minutes later and replaced them with 235's. BUT, i tried using those for my daily driving tires. they might work at the track, ASSUMING the turn around at the end was VERY wide.

In order to fit 245 wide anything you have to run a slightly lower offset on your wheels. If you have ver looked at your wheels from the back of the car you can see they don't sit flush with the fender they have a more inset look to them. Dsm's don't have much room to add width to the inside of the car, tire wise at least. So we have to move more of the rim towards the outside of the car, which still doesn't give us that much more room.

They fit on his car perfectly. I was in the lane next to him when he was running them. He was pulling the same 60's as me as well (1.8)

I dont get this one problem I am trying to figure out.

Why arent there tons of FWD dsm's running 10s, 11s, and 12s?

This car has been around for 15 years and there are like a handfull of fast FWD's

On the other hand, the srt4, only around for like 3 years, has dozens of cars in the 11's, hundreds in the 12's and some in the 10s, most on stock blocks and trannies still

I dont get it??? Is there just something weird about our cars? Why is it so hard for us to go fast?

I am very very tempted to kill this trend. My tranny blew 2nd and I was gonna swap a stocker in and sell the car, but im like 99% set for calling TRE and ordering their race tranny, swapping some slicks on it and puttin down some times.

They have this new AWD tranny setup they are selling that work on FWD dsm's, and retain the awd gearing, maybe the fwd tranny isnt geared right or something, maybe the awd tranny will help???

Its expensive, $2500 with quaife, but its brand new, its built up and it has better gearing.

I put down 342whp on my old bullseye turbo, vtrim, and Im getting a 50trim from them now to replace my old turbo and then some cams to get about 400whp

With that and traction, it should easily do 11's. If not, Im stumped. I just dont understand why there arent more hardcore FWD dsm's around.

You dont need a race tranny, just whore stockers. When they pop, have a cheap replacement ready. I ran my stock FWD with an insert all season, no issues, stock axles.

And SRT-4's start poping when they get into the 11's. The hand full of 10 sec cars you speak of are
SHOP cars, almost race only trailer queens in most instances.

FWD=The Win. trust me. :)

once again a 14b car can have the possibility to drop into the 10's in a Fwd car

owning both a 1g awd and a 2gfwd this is why i think u see poor times in the 1/4 for the fwd's. out of all these guys on here running mid 13's with 350+ whp how many of you have lsd's? probably the single most effective (and expensive) thing u can do to ## fwd (hense srt-4's running faster times with same power) how many of you are using a staged boost controller at the track? 21psi and side stepping the clutch out of the hole on a fwd is pointless, only going to lead to more of those 2.2 60's and higher without a proper set up. like to see some of u guys feather the clutch out of the hole at about 60-70% throttle and use ## knowledge of ## car's ability to hook to know when it's time to mash it. weight is another killer imo for the fwd's i've seen many tractionless 450whp+ hondas pullin low 11's (could it be thier 2600lb curb weight) start looking for ways to save weight (wheels, carbon, a/c removal, there's lots to shave) or there's always the alternative....#### the et's and go for traps. imo mph in the 1/4 is what really shows the difference in who's making power vs. who can hook better. i've put my 2.2 60ft getting 2g fwd against against many low 12sec cars around here, not one has touched me from a roll. best of luck guys

Ha! From a roll bitches.

Trap speed is King.

My dual stage boost controller is in the works and will be finished for this year. LSD will depend on my finances.

Trap speed for life though :D, when people ask me what I run in the quarter expecting a number in seconds, I always give them trap speed. My e.t. is shameful given my traps on pump gas.

2.0 60ft and no dual stage boost controller, lsd or aftermarket suspension. just some good ol' bfg drag radials and a little slip on the clutch.

Ha your telling me, next time out at the track I might put on some street tires just for shits and giggles to see what my time is.
