I should post too... I ran in mid August on the slicks. I blew the open dif on the last run and still had a lot of experimenting to do with the slicks. The last run was the better of the two because I bogged when launching at 4500. I launched at 5500, but did not have a good enough burnout and spun in 2nd a little bit. The times are all in my profile. This crappy tune has at least a 12.7-12.6 in it. Going to work on the tune this week. Next time I hit the track it will be with my new Quaife LSD and a better tune.

I am new to the board. Hello. I am currently on a mission. I have purchased a 96 gst spyder and trying to make it go at least high 11's or low 11's. That is my goal. This is my project. So far I have the following parts, sbr 50 trim, sbr mani, FMIC, 880 injectors, 3" cat back. I know I need prob need a at least a stage 3 clutch and some more parts to finish the car. I am going to build this car over the winter and take it to the track in the spring. I will keep you guys posted. :)

Well I like the thread becuase I drive a GST but there is no way I can read thew 21 pgs....LOL
Anyways I have a GST that put down 402whp (on 93 oct). It has never been on the track but it is going to IFO in mid Nov.
Ive added a few things since I did the 402 dyno also (heres whats been added): Aeromotive FPR kit, JM Fab Intake mani, 75mm throttle body, TRE Tranny(should be in early next week), Keydiver Stage 3 Dual map Chip, Port and Polished head, cam gears, logging laptop with Evo Scan....maybe more but thats all I can think of for now. Im hoping for 450whp on pump gas....I will do a few runs on pumpgas and a few on C16. Oh but I dont have slicks I have Nitto 555 Drag radial :(

Any guess on what times the car can put down?

I can tell you that with out slicks you will not net great runs. ecspecially with nitto DR. With slicks and a good run easily be an 11 sec pass.

Come on guys the last post was 10-19-08 ? well i'm in the process of building a 2g talon 14b car with nitrous my goal is 11.99 on turbo only then i'm going to play with the spray from 50-100. i've been living in the drag racing secsion and see all these 14b AWD cars running mid to high 11's...... i just figured they would be more FWD cars doing the same thing. i should have my car running in about 2 weeks so i'll try to get my tuning down and get to the track before they close. :tease::dsm:

My car wont be ready for IFO like I planned so I will have to see if the track will be open any later than that. I should have the car back by then but I need to put about 1500 miles on the Tranny to break it in.

Well I'll give an update but sorry to say guys, it will be my last. Went out to the track once more near the end of Oct. Cooler day & barely any cars there, so not sure if it was lack of cars (not enough slicked muscle cars heating up the track) or poor track prep but I couldn't hook, no matter what I tried (well still beter then street tires but nowears close to how it dead hooked last time, breaking lose after everylaunch & having to get right off the throttle). I tried doing much longer burn outs but the tires would barely be warm by the time I got back to the pits (where as before they were still like glue). So no records, was hoping to see an 11 but didn't happen. Some high 12's & another 12.5 but this time at 118.5. That was with a 2.15 60ft so if it hooked like the previous time (2.03), I would have had a 12.2 run & I'm sure those Hoosiers still would have had better 60's in them. Still defently more left with pump & meth but I didn't feel like pushing it since it was hooking. On the last run, I heard a bang around 6500 in 3rd & ended up losing 3&4 gears. More then likely the slider & the cause is probably from running BG Synchroshift, this seems to be common when running too thin fluid. I didn't know this fluid was too thin until about a week before I went to the track but noone local had any Redline MTL or MT90, so I thought, one more track day won't hurt it ROFL

So since I need a tranny rebuild, I've descided I'm swapping the car to awd. Sorry guys, its been fun, still planning on running some 11's on pump but looks like it will be on street rubber with 4 tires spinning ;)

DSMu4ia, not sure if you'll see this post or not. I may PM if not.

With the M&H 235's (I have the same tires), did you cross the traps in 3rd gear? I'm assuming you had the rev limiter set at 9k for those passes as well?

I'm hating the FWD gear ratios and am considering getting an AWD trans ready to swap in. I'm revving 3rd out to 8k currently and crossing the traps at 122mph. I will be increasing it to 9k before I go back to the track, and thinking that would be good for close to 140mph traps, as long as I have the power, of course.

The main question, did you cross the traps in 3rd with the M&H tires?

Sorry for the late reply..I don't check these forums much.

Yes, I was crossing in 3rd gear, right around 9k. I had bumped up the limiter to 9300 because I was getting close, but I don't think I crossed over 9k. I ran pretty low pressure in mine as well.

Best 60' on them was 1.9, but if I would have played with boost control they felt like 1.8 capable.

Best 60' on slicks (24.5" M&H's) was 1.7, but I'm positive I could have seen 1.6's. The DOT's also were pretty useless in 2nd gear, but keep in mind I was running single stage of boost at over 720whp. @ my 600whp pump gas settings, they hooked everything.

Full weight FWD or pretty close to full weight.

You will see a full drag front wheel drive out of Boost Boyz Racing next season....construction has already begun! We've been consulting with some of the quickest fwd guys out there, so we're hoping for some great results! We are also considering a front wheel drive for "street" type classes. Haven't decided on that one yet.

Might hit the track this Sat for test and tune night. Will be on street tires for this one though If I run so im expecting some worn out street tires with High MPH and high 1/4 time.

I guess I should have sent you a PM on the Link forums, haha. Since my post in this thread, and my PM to you, I had the car out two more times. I ended up bumping the rev limiter to 8750 and that was enough for a 132.8 trap, in 3rd gear.

My best 60' on the M&H DOT's was a 1.9 as well.

Next year, I'll have a set of 26/8.5" slicks, so we'll see what I can do with those.

FWD Rulez!! Well... sort of, anyway, I hit the track last wendsday and ran a 14.06 at 104 mph with crappy street tires and my 2nd grinding like hell, the next day I had to pull my tranny only to find that my clutch disc went caput and my differential is pretty f'ed up. So now I know 4 puck with spring hubs don't work.:notgood: . So low 13's shouldn't be to greedy for me right? The car layed down 317 whp on a notorious dyno people say usually gives less hp. What u guys think?

should have a higher trap speed to be over 300WHP. I only dynoed around 250hp and my best trap was 109.

Did all the Fwd guys hide....... Hey guys well got my car running waiting for the track to open, i got some base line runs on my passport g-timer just like a g-tech but more accurate.

can't wait to turn it up to 18-20 then the weth kit and everything this 14b can put out.......

hoping to take my car to the track this summer and see what i run. Stilling doing stuff little by little but it sux at the moment, i have no job. So basically everything that's in my profile or that has been done to my car is unemployment money. I'm suppose to race my boy's CRX this summer, he plans on doing 12's so my goal is to beat him.

I picked upa few more things to help with my goal.
I still have 500 miles left to properly break in the tranny then I should hit the track.
I got a new custom fmic set up with 3" piping to the 75mm tb. Meth injection and some 15 in rims with mickey hompson et streets. Hope that will help some. I will get other rims for slicks also.

i had a fwd and i was puting down like 320whp and i was the only one i knew of around my way tryign to make a fast fwd dsm its fun but in the end i went awd figured less power to go faster in the quarter mile better 60 ft and all but i miss burnouts awd only spins half of first for me

Hey everyone. I am getting ready to finish up my build here car is running just in need of a little tune. The only things I need are suspension, wheels and slicks. I know I want to get M&H 24.5x8.5x15 and weld wheels. I was just wondering what some of you guys with 1G FWD where running as far as offset or backspacing goes as I need a little input in this department. Thanks a lot! And good luck to everyone this season!:thumb:

Can't wait for this season. I'll have my slick setup from last year for the whole season and I have a fresh tranny rebuild and Quaife.

im also building my FWD so far i have a built 6bolt and a 20g and all the supporting mods but i just got dsm link V3 and im starting to learn how to tune with that (still getting knock above 6000rpm) but i have only had it for a week and i have a set of M&H but i still needs rims. anyone know exactly what offset i need. they are 15". and lastly i want to build my tranny but im not sure where to get it built at (tre? shep? jacks?) and input would help
thanks

Both a 35 and 40 offset will work for you. Im not sure what other sizes though sorry. (I only know that because I tried a few on at discount tire before I purchased a set...I also have GSX brakes so my calipers are alot bigger making it harder to find wheels that clear)

FWD guy here reporting. :hellyeah: Love my fwd and wouldn't trade it for an awd for certain reasons. My plans are to make mid 300's and stiffen up the suspension for reduced wheel hop (mounts) and corner-carving performance (megan racing 32-ways). Just trying to build a streetable fun little car.

My car will probably not see the track anymore unless I have slicks or some sort of lsd. Before all my bolts on I ran 14.1 @ 101. With all my mods and alot more wheelspin it still goes 14.1-14.2 at 101. gutted or full weight it hasn't changed. Its just a tire shredder and with 202k on the bottom end, trans and frame I'm done with the set up. Let alone my trans SUCKS!!! Im in the process of going to an AWD platform. Its just so much easier to go faster. Although my car is an animal on the highway with a 14b at 20psi. Ever do a 2nd gear pull at 50? Try it some time and tell me how aweome and violent it feels. Its amazing how I never broke anything doing that.
