Oh man thats exciting! I was just looking at those the other day.

I ordered an ECU the other day to rule out a potential fried ECU, and also just to have a spare before they are $1000 LOL.

I checked the tracking on it at least 3 times and looked at my car and told it I love it as I walked by :p

Rebuilt the rear axles for my 4-bolt swap finally; they'd been sitting on my work bench since March...

Degreased, cleaned, wire brushed/sanded, painted. Then fresh boots and grease.

Back on the road. Just need to get it cosmetically back on point. Need to get the door glass back in. It has lexan windows from the racing days, over 20 years ago, LOL

Then will get the whole thing retinted to include the windshield.

Might even paint the wheels black.

If you're going to paint the wheels I'd go bronze

DSM/Evo123 related-ish.

It's definitely winter now and the basement got really bad over the fall. Getting it cleaned up and organized made me realize how much of a problem I have.

I got Evo corner down to this, which isn't bad. The boxes are mostly organized by component type (body/engine/brakes/suspension/axles/transmission/diff) and are mostly packed with NOS Mitsubishi goodies. I swear I'll restore the car one of these years. Everything that I still need should probably be available for years to come, so it's time to get serious about getting the car stripped down to its shell and repainted.

This winter I have to take my manifold, turbine housing and o2 housing of choice to get ceramic coated, port an o2 housing to 2.5", and make that turbo shield look as-new like the manifold shield for the restoration. Then assemble it all and never want anything beyond what the ol' 7cm V1 HTA68 can do.

All the turbo stuff here is Evo 1-3 (plus the 68HTA on the left), still waiting for a used Evo 1/2 o2 housing to arrive from Japan. I need to make one setup out of this and commit to selling off all the extra stuff - no more of this hoarding crap. Not sure why I got Evo 1 and Evo 3 16G cores lately that I don't really need , but I digress.

After the battery i got with the car (from 2021 btw) started struggling with the colder weather I went ahead and got a new battery with a proper bracket setup (finally)! Maybe not the best or worst choice but the bracket for the Optima really drew me in so thats the battery I ended up with.

Now im just wondering how long I should let it warm up with this, new to me, colder weather before I drive. Even in GA I would let it get halfway to operating temp before I took it out. I mean realistically it takes like 60 seconds for the oil to fully circulate and you want to get it warmed as soon as possible but its an old turbo car. Maybe im being overly cautious but there is some piston slap now in this colder weather so do I just wait for that to settle before driving?

I feel your pain. I'm building my car with the intention of it being a maxed out 16G car but the allure of "more" always pulls at you...

I told myself the same thing with the green, but at 30lbs of boost I'm used to it and find myself researching how bearable an FP Red's spool is...

Nevermind. Car randomly won't start now. It may end up getting a partout as a reward...

The threat of the partout always works.

Fixed the no start issue. It got extremely cold and it's been rainy for days as well. Not sure how those contribute, but the injectors were stuck/frozen.

Beating them for their insolence with an extension while my wife cranked the car fixed it. It idled rough at first, then smoothed out. Car rips. Makes 340hp via ECMLink on 22lbs with my timing additions.

So yeah. Yay!

Took the ol girl out for Chinese food trip and realized its time to install my favorite cold weather accessory. Anyone with metal shift knob lemme recommend this cozy fella, cause nothing worst then a cold balls in your hand. Little cover provides instant relief when it comes to winter driving :thumb:

Ever touched a metal shift knob that's been baking in the Florida sun? Gonna have to disagree and raise you "grilled human palm" is worse than "frigid metal ball". :p

True, jersey summers are not the same as florida, tho this cover does help with that as well, but it may melt during your summers 🤣. I wont go to florida until atleast october. But you never get to feel the horsepower increase we get here in the cold weather, car never feels better then boosting in 30 degree weather.

Anyone remember those Greddy/Trust Grex shift knobs? Those things used to burn my fingerprints off every day after high school.

Lows are in the 30's for the past couple weeks here and 20's will be here soon. In Jan through early March it's routinely been in the teens here in real Florida. :p
