And your step was correct? weird. Only thing I can think of then is either the ball or fork is worn, the fork is bent, or the PP fingers aren't sticking out as far as they need to due to manufacturing error. Either that or your clutch disc is too fat causing the fingers to retract further inward and thus bringing the TOB closer to the flywheel

Pretty sure step height on this flywheel is incorrect. Me and Paul Volk both have the same exact issue and both have unused ACT Flywheels.

Tim Z in my build thread stated he measured three new act flywheels at his shop recently and they were all .607-.608.
 
Well, guess I gotta do some sketchy stuff to shim the pivot ball now. Lol. Because I'm not dropping the trans right after I just got it all back together
I’m surprised you didn’t check that beforehand. I think I have to do the same myself. What sketchy ideas do you have in mind? Cause I’m all for it LOL

Had a local guy polish out my thermal exhaust muffler since it looked dull and dead. Difference is night and day!

@Mahreeoh17 Nice! By far my favorite exhaust that Ive ever had on any of my cars in the past. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Were you able to get the rest of the piping with it?

My new act streetlite, produced in the past 6 months if I recall seeing the sticker, measured out .608-.609.
Don't psyche me out here.. I have a v2 ceramic 6 puck going in, I don't need no drag.

You did. And what’s funny is when I first installed the trans I had a moment where I was like “I think I should install some shims on this pivot ball, it looks close to the passenger side” but I didn’t do it.

I swear every time I ignore that little voice it bites me in the asshole. Directly on the hole. No mercy.



But: on topic for the thread I removed everything that’s in the way of dropping the trans except exhaust and tcase. Then I spent almost an hour and a half fighting with the passenger axle which now refuses to come out. Almost snapped a 1” prybar attempting to get it out. There’s no other good spots to pry either.

I’m just gonna see if I can drop the trans tomorrow with the axle still in it but out of the hub. Soon as the sun goes down the murder mosquitos ms13 gangs come out.

Took it for the first drive yesterday. Although only a few miles everything went well. No crazy noises and no puddles under it LOL. Today I decided to wash it up and give it a quick detail.

So what's the 'AMG' part? I'm curious

Today.. I actually did stuff. First baby steps.
Tested out the new 5gal parts washer with some simple green, cleaning the oil pump housing. Spent over an hour scraping the gasket off the OFH. Decided I need a torch if I'm removing any of the fittings on it, especially the one that was.. pipe doped, I think.

Back in the day, AMG worked with Mitsubishi and made a limited run of AMG built Galants. About 500 were made. Part of that was adding the spark plug cover that you see on my car.

I added it last year and mostly for the looks and questions I get at the car shows.
 
Rebuilt the shifter and contemplated my DSM future. If a new flywheel and oem master doesn't fix the clutch not disengaging, I will have no clue how to fix it. Times like this, I wish I lived closer to DSM OGs who could help me in person. I just can't learn by words or images on a screen.
 
I guess you'll have to learn by dirty hands and busted knuckles.

Got plenty of those this week. But man, I just keep getting this feeling that it's something stupid and small that I'm missing somehow.

That's awesome, I had no idea. I'm green with envy. Well, of that, and the colour. It's so beautiful it kinda hurts.

I have an Evolution GVR4 long block and head, so I think that cover belongs over here LOL
