Was doing the same thing yesterday except in ECMLink. Have to trick the monitors into "Ready" because of emissions coming up next month. Luckily we are allowed 2 to be "Incomplete". But also found out that Im going to have to rebuild this throttlebody because of an internal leak...so gonna have to disconnect the battery and do it over again.

Yeah I did that initially as well, but the ecu got angry about my missing egr valve. My spare ecu has a funky tune in it from some one dialing in the idle with a huge leak at the biss screw. Afr's are all over the place on cold idle

I hate rebuilding these throttle bodies. Its easier to rebuild a carb than it is to rebuild these things

Well finally was able to start tearing into the the rear end of the car taking everything out. Have new upper and lower control arms as well as mustache bar to go in so far. Sent calipers out for powder coat and rebuild and about to send out torsion arms to natfab.

The last few days I replaced both O2 sensors, installed new spark plugs, and changed the oil. Since the oil was drained, I took the opportunity to replace the old leaking oil return line with a new stock 2g line. I first had to elongate the turbo end mounting holes so it would fit on the 18g. Once it was all in place I needed a nap...this car kicks my butt sometimes.

Got these guys in while waiting fot the machine shop

Dang, those are almost too pretty to hide inside a block. ;) I've never seen pistons with that much valve relief. Does that give you protection against valve damage if the timing belt skips?

I didn’t do it but I was sent pictures from the fab shop doing the work for the intercooler

Sprayed my rusty lower heat shield with some high temp black paint, removed melted radiator fan and replaced lever shoe.
OEM color scheme dictates the top should be matte black and the lower part be polished bare, or at least silver. 🤖

Jk to each their own.

Why they didn't match them at the factory is anyone's guess. I'm partial to all polished but these parts are battered and rare AF these days.

HA!... Im lucky to even have a lower heat shield. This thing is definitely on its last leg but at least its not rusty anymore. Still melted my fan on that side . Not sure why tho.. Dont think I have any exhaust leaks or a leak at the jpipe..

Might want to add a layer of protection on the inside of the shield. I plan on lining mine with fire resistant high heat blanketing.

Something akin to turbo banket material.
Im gonna have to do something like that.. i have a turbo blanket, a blanket for the fp manifold and a lower heat shield.. .Like the 3rd fan Ive melted in the last 3 years. Thanks for the suggestion, im going to find something to order and give it a try/Go to the junkyard tomorrow and get a new fan too.

Ran a small electric auxiliary water pump directly to the cylinder head and replaced the mechanical water pump with new. Doing an easy coolant leak test before putting the coolant. Zero leak. Ready to suck back the coolant.

Started the Auto car to keep her battery up and smell her E85.
Ahhhhh . It made me smile..

Talked to it lovingly, and still debated what I'm going to do for fuel with him. Drive a couple hours one way and fill a bunch of cans w/ E85 and just drive it sparingly? Or just order a 5 gallon jug of BoosTANE Pro that will make 100oct for like $4.38 a gallon including cost of gas.

Decisions, decisions. Both are fairly valid. E85 would be way too tempting to push max power, where as pump gas and boostane would give me some headroom but not tempt me to push it.

My vote is for boostane. Def. Never heard of it but that.

Edit: just bought 8.

Same thing as VP Octanium really. Just MMT, but it's way more stabilized/doesn't separate or need to be shaken like other additives. It works amazing. I can run a 106octane tune with zero knock if I up the %, and instead of having to use a whole 32oz bottle like VP Octanium, you can use like 4-6oz at a time to achieve the same results. A can goes a whole lot further than VP Octanium does for sure.

It's a godsend. My edge trapped like 108-110mph on the 106octane tune and just ripped through all four tires like they weren't even there with it mixing a little on the high side. Lol. Took it like a champ.

But yeah TL;DR, it's awesome stuff. I think you just made my mind up for me.

For those who use it and want more, order the 5 gallon jug off of their main website. It's like $400 but when you do the math it ends up being like $20 a bottle. Massive savings over buying an 8 pack or etc.

To put it in perspective, if you mix it for 100octane, that's 640 gallons of 100 octane for $4.65 a gallon(with 93 octane at $4 a gallon). If you mix it for 99 octane, you literally double the amount gallon wise as it's a 0.43 oz per 1 Gallon 93 for 99 octane, compared to .92 oz per 1 Gallon 93 for 100octane.

The higher the octane, the more expensive it gets but still way cheaper than race gas. You can make like 106 gallons of 106 octane for like $9.20ish a gallon. And it's unleaded.
