Scavaging at the ever-shrinking population of car graveyards around here but prices are through the roof. Ordered a radiator fan from Stevie @ Krannapolis instead for half the price with shipping included.

Fan and lower heat shield with some heat shield barrier lining are back on the car. Probably take a cruise tomorrow.

I pulled a new-looking radiator out of the last 1G that was in my local yard, and I was surprised by the price being so high. I did get the fans with it too so I went ahead and paid.

Im really shocked at the number of junkyards that have closed down around here.

Didnt think it was that long ago that I paid like $10-$15 for the whole fan assembly at the same yard. Im sure their cost has increased in certain areas, but theyre getting priced out of being worth it. Maybe thats why they are disappearing.

Spending some time with Fusion 360 and the Prusa, starting the process of modeling up some reproduction door moldings for the 1G Eclipse and Talon. I am totally puzzled why these castings are so crumbly, since they are PCV like everything else. Fender moldings don't fail, black castings on my '90 Laser didn't fail. HELP REQUEST: If any of you have 1G Talon moldings OFF THE CAR, or more likely broken fragments in a box, pls speak up.

Friend came over and fixed my solder hack job.... Just to be clear tho...he said my solder job was just fine,, the wire for the inverter was so thin that i was stripping too much wire off with the insulation, especially on the ground wire, so the real issue was that it wasnt grounded properly...the tip of my solder gun was crappy too. Didnt notice the brand new solder gun that i bought like 3 years ago and forgot about hanging on the pegboard that I couldve been using.

Opened the hood and had plans to install the turbo, and paint the VC.

But then it got to be 91* with a humidity in the 60% with the promise to go up to roughly 90% humidity later, and I decided it wasn't worth the heatstroke I'd get, and went back inside. :p

Straight misery the next 6 months boys. Don’t forget all the gnat appetizers!

You're both so right it hurts.

And if it's not the gnat appetizers, its the mosquitos who snort Off! and Deep Woods bug spray like it's a line of coke and feast on you completely undeterred.

Not to mention the damn wasps and hornets which I am allergic as hell too. LOL

I really need to stop buying stuff for the DSM and just save to build a garage. :p

I don’t wanna hear about bugs during termite swarming season!

Signed, Louisiana swamp people.

Termites, mosquitoes, nats and mayflies here in KS. And they attack during lawn mowing ROFL

Got the head back from the machine shop, assembled it, installed it and got it all timed, almost ready to drop it back in the car .

Installed the delrin shifter bushing kit from RTM. Discovered that their kit SUCKS and they essentially need to be pressed in(after much...much sanding of the shifter cable ends thinking maybe that was the problem). The bronze bushing(singular, that's why I "upgraded" to a delrin bushing to not damage the trans) came right out and was held in with a c-clip. These POS are like press fit and held in with a cotter pin that is too large of a diameter to fit the shifter arm hole. Amazing. 100% pass on this kit from RTM and just pay extra for Torque Solutions bushings.

But after fighting with that for WAY too long in the florida humidity and heat, I discovered the trans won't go into any gear. :banghead::banghead::banghead: No clue why it would do this but I'm getting really tired of it fighting me.

I'm not familiar with the Delrin Shifter kit. What's it suppose to improve?
