What did you do to your DSM today?

I need to weigh mine, i have quite a few things removed and a cf hood, I'd hope to be around there AFTER cutting the tire well out, are you rocking a gaping hole? Or you cover it with aluminium?

Trying to go to the track today but it's an hr away and closes in 3.5 hrs and the girlfriend is still doin her hair LOL.

Hell no I didnt just keep the hole there! haha.. I welded in a couple cross braces and cut out some sheet metal and bonded it to the braces and inside of the trunk.

Made it to the track for some shake down passes, only made two, and it was my first time at this track with this setup. They didn't have the timers set for the 1/4 so i had to run the 1/8th... Bummer. Made a crappy 8.5 2.3 60' 25psi and then an 8.2 2.1 60' 60ft both 97mph 27psi... Need more seat time, more boost. More timing. Car is no where near completed on tune. And street tires didn't help. 94 octane

Crash, so you welded it in? I would have made it bolt in to make for easier rear diff access.

No I welded in some cross braces and used a 3m bonding agent and sealed it. But not quite sure what more access you need.. Pulling a rear diff in a 2g is TOTALLY different than a 2g. Its pretty easy to get at the diffs even with the spare tire well.

Lol yah what? 2g 2g? We both have 2g. Ive just heard its easier to remove from the top. I havent had to remove mine ye so what do i know LOL.

I would prefer it welded in, it'd be stronger, and its not like you need to remove the subframe/diff every weekend.

The F*F cover is made from .090 (3/32) aluminum so it's pretty thick, you'd probably want a 4'x4' piece. For the sheet alone you're looking at ~$100 and the local water jet charges $25 to cut, I think I paid $150 for mine plus $25 to powdercoat from F*F.

:dsm:

theres a 100 thousandth 4x4 sheet metal aluminum for 97 bucks at my local metal supermarket! heh, how did you get the design for the water jet to cut it? after i get my 4x4 piece. thinking about chopping this bastard out like... next weekend.

Atemptedto try out some vht night shade on a busted tail light i have just to see what te hype is about, didn't wanna go too dark cause if i did it to my good set I'd want them to be dark red. Anyway it came out not how i wanted after clear,
Orange peeled, so I'm gonna just do the center tail, but be more careful, center tail was plastidipped, so I'm gonna basically lay it on til it's black, then clear it. Let it cure, wet sand, and buff.

Effin hate it when a cat hair gets in your wet paint.

I like the vht, I did my friends mustangs taillights, Did it light, I believe two layers, not dark at all but next to a stock one looks really nice. See if I can find pictures...

Black tails look great on 2g's.

Here is my old Talon, I just picked up a spare set of tail lights to do this again on my new one.

How is a 2g different from a 2g?:hmm:

Why you guys gotta be dicks! hurts my feelings being mean like that.. :nono:

haha Jokes, I get those!!

2g rear diffs are WAY easier to remove than 1Gs!! Was a pain in the dick to pull the diff out of my 1g when it was making some horrid noise.. My spyders on the other hand. walk in the park. Due to the mounts being on the back and sides, not the top!!

Attempted to make an oil drain line for my holset made it to long and said f it for the night.

Always a nice challenge doing drains LOL.

Cleaned up engine bay a little (pictures to come soon), but have a question. I noticed a random wire attached to the bolt on the retainer for the hood prop with a fuse attached that goes nowhere. What was it?

Installed my first real suspension, the DG Koni/Hypercoil setup. The fronts need a bit more adjustment as the rear height is just about where I want it, too slammed in the front.

This is coming from a Tokico/Eibach Prokit combo.

Shit i hope I'm not too low LOL my exhaust bolt clamps already drag on speed bumps.
Lookin good. Awaiting my front parts still, was it pretty simple install?

I'm going from
Agx and eibach pro.

Do you notice a better turning radius with these? I'm hoping so.

With the increase in spring rates I almost have to jump up and down on the strut tower to get the car to even wiggle an 1/8th of an inch. The Prokit springs are 330 F / 130 R spring rates and these HyperCoils are 750 F / 350 R so it's going to take a lot more "bump" for the suspension to travel like it used to.

I can't speak for the turning radius but I doubt it improves. I haven't given it a test drive and probably won't until the week leading up to the S.O. Family in town this weekend so no time to play, unfortunately.
I think it sits just about right!! Super sexy! Id definitely like to run into ya at the shootout and shoot the shit!
I took every fender to exactly 26" off the ground, wheel gap is just about right now. Still have to align the car with jackstands and string so I'm not looking like I've got Honda squat but, other than that, it's almost road worthy.

Looking forward to the S.O. a full weekend of DSM's is going to put me on overload. Hopefully we run into each other, have a few drinks, and talk cars... sounds like a good time.

Here's a shot of the end result before I closed the garage and went in for the night.
