What can i possibly do with ECMlink on my current setup

So i bough the Eprom Ecu with ECMlink v3 for my car.
Currently my car has:
t28
3" catback
mbc
narrow band boost and AFR gauges
Turbo timer

everything else is stock.

My question is what can i possibly do right now with ECMlink to make things better ? I am a complete noobie in when it comes to work with ECMlink

You can tune it. You are going to want a wideband A/F setup such as the Innovate MTX-L. Do you have a better fuel pump or injectors? If you get those then you can start increasing boost and take advantage of all that ECMLink has to offer.

Watch these as well. They help A LOT.

This won't answer your question. But I know the pros will tell you to get rid of that narrow band and get a wide band to monitor and help tune your car more accurate . Not sure but you can so several things on tuning with stock stuff. I let the pros tell you I don't miss inform you

I totally agree with you on narrow band AFR, it sucks, all it does is jumps from left to right with absolutely no point. I am also scared buy wide band AFR because it seems to me like it is very hard to install, plus i am scared placing that new sensor in the front o2 housing. It says that it will reduce the life of the sensor, but what if i wrap it in alum foil or something just to prevent it from that heat ?

Aem wideband so easy to install all you need is a power source when the accesory is turned on with the key and a ground usaually can be down by the fuse box by your left foot. Then all you have to do is get a o2 bung hole on your exhuast for the sensor to read air/fuel ratings. If you where here take 5 mins to install. Get it and tune that car anytune is good a tune is best way to have a great running car stock or modified.

The ECU is tuned from the factory to just dump fuel under boost. The 2g also doesn't run very agressive timing. So Link is useful even for cars that are close to stock.

Installing a wideband isn't very difficult. If you don't want to place the sensor in the front O2 spot (which also requires narrowband simulation) then have a bung welded into the downpipe.

Drop the pipe and take it to any muffler shop. $20 later and you don't have to spend $60 every six months or so on a new wbo2 because you decided to pop it in the o2 housing. No need to mess with narrow simulation either.

You can't just remove the front O2 sensor (which is narrowband) and drop in a wideband sensor. The ECU uses signals from the narrowband to help control fuel adjustments. So you have to simulate a narrowband signal in order to run without a front O2 sensor.

Or you could just spend $20-30 to have a bung welded into the downpipe. That eliminate the need for narrowband sim or expensive replacement O2 sensors.

I just cant imagine how hard its going to be to remove the downpipe, but hey that's a cool idea, because i also have a exhaust leak somewhere in catalytic, so might as well do that too... What will be the best way for me to remove all those bolts that are pretty much welded to the metal right now ?

I completely disagree with everything you just said here.

I installed my wideband in the front o2 location with narrowband simulation and I didn't even know what all that even meant at the time. . I had never done any type of electrical work in my life prior to attempting it either. The wideband was a piece of cake. It's 3 wires that you splice into other wires and a sensor that you plug in. No big deal at all. Just ask around for which wires go where. (Or PM me )

As far as reducing the life of the sensor. First of all, the stock one lasts quite awhile in the stock location. Second of all, even ECMtuning themselves have said they have never had an issue running one there and they personally recommend it on their website.

If you are REALLY worried about the heat they make a little copper heat sink but I don't use one on mine.

Narrowband simulation is AWESOME. Don't scare yourself out of it if you already have ECMlink.

1. Remove factory front o2 sensor.
2. Install wideband sensor.
3. Wire up wideband signal to available ECU input.

4. Set up wideband in ECU Inputs tab and make sure the correct input is selected for Wideband (used for narrowband sim) dropdown box.
5. Set up narrowband sim in v3.

I still won't ever recommend wideband simulation or more so putting the wideband in the front o2, unless absolutly needed or you are like some and keep VERY on top of what is going on with the car.

It's nice to have a back up or reference to your wideband. While a narrowband is next to useless for tuning. It does a very good job of finding 14.7. Running narrow band simulation and you wideband fails . The car is going to not play nice in closed loop... . all to often people don't have the right swtiching point set or don't even know the have an exhaust leak... .

This makes zero sense. You are worried about creating a leak where a bung would be welded on to your downpipe, but you are just fine spending 60$ every six months to replace an o2 sensor? You sure you're ready to start modding a car?

Haha yeah, I'm one of those with aem and simulating, it's fine if you replace the sensor every 8 months just make sure it's calibrated correctly! I suppose i could consider a 2nd o2 bung for a stock narrowband in my o2 housing I'm fabbing up.

Thats the rear stock o2 sensor it's not used to tune it just checks the efficiency of the cat for emissions purposes.

Not worth spending 35$ for something that won't work properly.. yes its easy to install and all that stuff, but you'll have to change gaskets every like 3 months, why ? I've rather have it welded once and for all.
