ok so i have the full 16g setup with FIC 650's 255 walbro, and im wondering what brand and size Cams are recommended for max power(looking for over 300hp) for the 16g, and ones that will be suitable for when i start upgrading to the hx35.
so in a nutshell, is there good Cam setup that can deal with both of these turbos?

thanks mates:thumb:

That's a 7 bolt engine dude, get the 2G cams.

Edit: I'm going to give you an example, this is my 95 Talon TSI, it has a 6 bolt swap. This is what it would look like if it was a 6 bolt head. Notice the CAS.

For everyone else: I know my MAF isn't hooked up, I was still in the process of piping the new front mount :p

I agree with gofer in regards to HKS 272's or FP2's. I'm running FP2's as well with a similar setup and love them. Like gofer stated, it pulls all the way to redline.

I have a 6bolt swap with a 2g head...

You can have a 6 bolt swap with a 2G head, but you need to run the 1G CAS with said swap.

ok so my question is...WHAT IS THAT SENOR THERE?? 7 bolt heads dont have that senor there. is that the CAS sensor, just hanging by his lonesome?? the dude i bought from told me its 6 bolt swap...im about to be pissed if theres not a 6 bolt block under that 7 bolt head

can someone post a 7 bolt CAS so i can ook for that and determine ?

thansk fellas

Look at my pic, if it doesn't look like that, its a 7 bolt.

youre not answering my question tho. whats that sensor sitting there where a CAS wuld be if it were 6 bolt. i know for sure head atleast is 7 bolt. and all pics of 7 bolt heads tehre is no sensor there...so what is that sensor?

'95 - '96 DSM's don't actually have a CAS (cam angle sensor) its referred to as a CPS (cam position sensor) and is inside the head on the intake cam. That connector you took a picture of I believe is still the connector for the CPS, its just inside the head since its a '95 CPS.

This is why we have a tech/VFAQ forum so you can do research on this stuff, if there are any other electrical connection questions you need answered Brian (snowborder714) did a MAGNIFICENT write up but nobody utilizies it. --> 2g electrical connections

Recirc your bov...

alrighty. so this is a 7 bolt 420a...correct..?

and fmic just went on, still finding a pipe to fit the recir...once i turn the bov around:ohdamn:

I know it hasn't been talked about in a while, but just have to agree with 91 stroker about the bc cams. I actually run fp1x's only because they fit with my power curves best, but at the shop i work at we install bc cams all day, never had one issue with them. Cams are precise and important, but with a company that does as much production as bc especially valvetrain stuff for a variety of veichles im curious to know what you even think they would screw up?

Well, thats a 7-bolt head...
The only way it could have a 6-bolt block and not a 1G CAS is if the previous owner had a Kiggly trigger plate installed. Expensive

or-

Had a 7-bolt Oil pump modded onto the 6-bolt block to keep the trigger plate, and now you have just your regular 95-96 CAS which is behind the Cam GEARS....

That being said, Take a good Look at where your transmissiong bolts up to the engine in the front somewhere by the slave cylinder/ lower front motor mount....The bell housing of a 7-bolt transmission meeting up with a 7-bolt block is perfect fit, all bolts are intact.

Now a transmission meeting up to a 6-bolt block will be missing a bolt and sort of look werid because the 6-bolt block is skinnier in that base portion...

You can also tell if its a 7-bolt block by seeing If your turbo coolant line Feeds INTO a little looped coolant tube screwed/banjoed directly into the block......If it is, you have a 7-bolt. because on a stock 7-bolt, the coolant is pushed into the turbo through the block, and retured via Giant water pipe behind turbo.

For me to have a 1G/2G head motor, I had to actually run a new coolant feed to the turbo because theres no feed hole in a 6-bolt block.

And no, this is a 4g63 motor

I wonder why the seller lied :(
Good luck

Types of DSM's Get your learn on so when a local guy asks what kind of engine you have in your DSM you don't tell him 420A...

:dsm:

the amount of information that ive obtained since ive bought this car is ridiculous. but yea just gotta keep learnin

You'll just learn more and more, I still learn new shit about DSMs all the time. Its those little things about these cars that get you.

sorry to tell you this but the cas on the 95 tsi/ gst-x is behind the timing cover. the easiest way to tell if you have a 6 bolt bottom end is look at the seem where the engine and transmission bolt together, if its a 6 bolt there should be a spot on the front of the transmission where there is no corresponding bolt hole on the block. just to the left of the front lower motor mount just underneath the inlet on that 16 g of yours. hope this helped.

oh by the way I like my comp 272's balls to the walls!!!
