Went to wallmart over the weekend to get oil for my wifes car and mine..

Apparently wallmart doesn't sell the oil filter ph 3950, or any of the 3950's to be specific...Let me repeat that..Wallmart does not sell any 3950 oil filters as of a couple weeks ago...

I checked every 6 bolt in the catalog..Eclipse, talon, laser, and galant vr4 for the year 1989 through 1993..They will not carry these oil filters anymore...They will carry the smaller 7 bolt oil filter, but no 6 bolt...They don't even list an oil filter for any of the above vehicles(6 bolt)..

So it looks like were all going to have to shell out 7$ a peice at the dealer...Or local parts stores should have the parts you need..This thread is basically about wallmart since were there more than any other stores..Or at least I am..

I ended up buying all of the 3950's in the clearence section for a dollar a peice..

But you should check your local wallmart to make sure it's not just a regional thing...My girl works at Sams club, and they can't get the filter either...

Stock up from our supporting vendors, or the dealer...

Another alternative to oem is to shop online at amazon. You can get Purolator Pureone's (same as Mobile1/K&N but w/o nut) for about the same price or less if you buy them by the 2-pack. If you're on a budget, check out the STP oil filters. Better than a basic Fram for around a dollar or less more!

Good riddance. Those standard-grade Fram filters are so horribly-made, I wouldn't use one on my garden tractor.

Here's a good instance of WalMart's poor stocking of items- the WalMart in Delmont, closest to my shop, does not stock Mobil 1 15W50. The WalMart in Greensburg, literally 5 miles from the shop in the other direction, has gallons of the stuff.

X2... cut a fram open.. half the filter element of most other brands on the market, very poor design of the oil bybass valve... I NEVER use a fram

I like WIX or NAPA gold oil filters (the NAPA Gold is made by WIX)

The stanard fram oil filter doesn't have the oil releif valve..Only the 6$ one does, and the aftermarket ones, and the oem one has it..Good riddence is right, but wallmart is a place where you can get just about anything so not selling an oil filter is like a kick in the Balls, and all tuners are now on a need to know basis..Look at this thread cause you will need to know..LOL

At that point you might as well buy something better-built from the get go.

Wix 51381's sell for $5.49 at my workplace...my cost is $3.49.

Their automotive department sucks anyway unless you're looking for car wax, air fresheners, steering wheel covers, or shitty batteries that don't even last a year.

Jusmx.... dose Wix have the racing one for the 4g? that would be worth looking into...

should be the same part number with a "R" after it...

No 51381R (6-bolt) or 51356R (7-bolt) shown in the price file, although I've always felt confident that the standard Wix would be heavy duty enough for DSM use.

I am sure they are!

I checked around too and its not offered

Check mate..Buy a better one from the get-go..

Check mate again sir...To clarify I didn't say high performance auto parts come from wallmart...Just your normal everyday weekend parts store for do it your selfers... Quality is always better than quantity...

Why don't you guys go to the parts store....? Those places do exist ya know.

The people at the parts stores around my area are lets just say half witted.Even the folks at the mits dealer don't know what to say when you give them the right part number and they hand you the wrong part...Then they try telling me that my CAPS is wrong, no sir I think you just don't know how to do your job..LOL

But nah you do raise a good point..Local parts stores should have the parts you need...

I noticed the same thing a week ago. No more 3950's. I just needed a cheap filter after my HG job to run some cheap oil through to get the last bit of water out.

ALSO... the schucks/kragen/checker/o'reiley shop in my area doesn't carry the mobil 1 filter in 6-bolt size either. They only have the cheap-ass fram 3950. They dont carry the 6-bolt size in any other brand they carry.

Frams are junk filters. Why would you use one? With the internet at your finger tips you would know the best filters on the market is between purolator, wix, and mobil 1. I use a pure one purolator on everything..

Most people that work at dealerships or parts houses are idiots. I worked at Advance Auto Parts for 4 years, just recently retiring my career there. LOL. We would have local shops call us have us deliver parts, then call us back asking them how to install them. :ohdamn:
