Walmart doesn't sell 6 bolt oil filter anymore

Went to wallmart over the weekend to get oil for my wifes car and mine..

Apparently wallmart doesn't sell the oil filter ph 3950, or any of the 3950's to be specific...Let me repeat that..Wallmart does not sell any 3950 oil filters as of a couple weeks ago...

I checked every 6 bolt in the catalog..Eclipse, talon, laser, and galant vr4 for the year 1989 through 1993..They will not carry these oil filters anymore...They will carry the smaller 7 bolt oil filter, but no 6 bolt...They don't even list an oil filter for any of the above vehicles(6 bolt)..

So it looks like were all going to have to shell out 7$ a peice at the dealer...Or local parts stores should have the parts you need..This thread is basically about wallmart since were there more than any other stores..Or at least I am..

Oreilly's in my area has like 4 or 5 different kinds of filters for 6 and 7 bolt. I allways get wix or microgard (store brand) damn good oilfilters.

Can I use a bigger filter on my 2nd gen (7Bolt) the one they suggest for it seems tiny as ####.

Their automotive department sucks anyway unless you're looking for car wax, air fresheners, steering wheel covers, or shitty batteries that don't even last a year.

Walmart battery in my Daily and its been going 15 months with me parking it in the shop to listen to the radio for hours on end while I work.

One more question about your theory..Why doesn't the new 2010 book on filters and such at wallmart, contain the new numbes for the replacement oil filter you mentioned?

Walmart still has 6-bolt oil filters, the numerical designation changed.

The walmart by my house has them replaced with the smaller 7-bolt 7317 filter. I bought one yesterday, i use cheap oil and filter for new builds, as the first filter and oil only run for 10-15 minutes. For my car and everything with more than 5 miles on it i use the mobil 1 filters.

Well walmart doesn't sell my bike filter anymore as well...so that def sucks. As far as running a fram filter I had the seal on one fail on me resulting in the purchase of a rebuilt 6bolt. I will NEVER run one again! And for the record...wix is da shit! (and so is OUR discount @ Jusmx141)

I have heard Walmart stocks by demographic. We have 2 Walmarts not even 10mi. apart and you can find products at 1 that the other does not stock. Could explain why 1 Walmart has Mobile 1 and the other doesnt.

Dude it happend so fast. I was speeding off from a light with my buddy and he noticed the oil spewing everywhere. By the time I shut down there was less then a quart in the engine (which ended up on the ground anyway). We went to a parts store and grabbed another filter and oil and changed it in the middle of the street. However it was 2 late...the damage was done.

Ever saw a pin hole in a oil filter? Your oil will be drained almost instantly.

Fram's suck anyways. I wouldn't use one on something I care about.

I use a bigger filter, I don't know what it's listed for, some Chrysler. It's the same size around as the part the filter screws on to; I don't like those tiny ones. Also, 6 and 7 bolt filters use the same thread and fit the same; I use the same filters on them all.

Good riddance. Those standard-grade Fram filters are so horribly-made, I wouldn't use one on my garden tractor.

Exactly. The only reason Fram still sells millions of filters is because of their namesake. Everyone off the street thinks that fram is the end all be all but in reality it's garbage.

With a lot of products, the most highly advertised brands suck the most. On my racecar, I gained 10-15 psi of oil pressure when I switched from Fram to Motorcraft; I told someone else, and they got the same results.

Or napa for a Napa gold filter made by Wix.

BTW all of my local autoparts stores(advanced, autozone, and walmart) no longer carry 6 bolt Mobil 1 or K&N as well. I was pretty pissed. There isn't even a mobil 105 spot on the shelf any longer, it now goes from 104 to 107.

I've been using WALMART BRAND SUPERTECH oil, and I have used the dirt cheap SUPERTECH OIL FILTER ($1.00 and some change NORMAL PRICE) to the few cents more Fram stuff.. on my 95 GSX with 150k miles on original motor, for the past 40k miles, and have not had a problem. Even ran it while running an MHI b16g..

on my nicer GSX I do use the recommended WIX filter and higher brand oil, but I would recommend the cheap stuff for ordinary daily drivers

They are interchangeable, just different styling because of how they are mounted. I used to use the left over 3KGT filters that I had stocked for a rainy day on times I didnt want to make a trip to the dealer, and they work just as fine on my six bolt. seal up fine..

Motorcraft = Purolator.

None of the Domestic OEM auto brands build their own oil filters anymore- especially now that most have gone bankrupt and required government assistance.

Frams have a shittier paper media which does not filter as well. The paper allows the oil to flow more freely, and lowers overall oil pressure.

walmart is not a autoparts store. can you buy piston's at walmart? can you buy a headgasket at walmart?

That might be nice if that option is available, but it isn't. Its between the large chain parts store or walmart for oil filters, and when all of those don't have it I go to Napa for a Gold filter made by Wix.
