6 bolt oil filter housing fittings

I'm just finishing up a 6 bolt swap into my 98 gst and I can't seem to figure out what oil pressure sending sensor I need, I have a couple around 1 from the the 98 gst and another from a 94 gsx which both seem to have a 1/8 npt thread. The housing which is on the 6 bolt has what appears to be a 3/8 thread, everywhere i've searched only has the 1/8 sensor, do i need to buy an adapter?

I have the same problem, I went from a 93 7 bolt motor to a 6 bolt, and the 6 bolt motor had no sensor, I tried swapping housings and it wouldn't fit for some reason. Let me know if you figgure out where to get a sensor for it.

Will do, I just talked to Paul at jnz tuning and he said that both 1g's and 2g's use the same pressure unit so now i'm more confused than before... I guess it might be time to upgrade to an after market unit, or buy an adapter.

Just go get a brass fitting adapter from the hardware store if you have to but there should be a hole on the back of the housing right by the one underneath that you can see in your pic.

Yeah that's what I figured too but trust me I checked and double checked and there isn't another fitting back there I'll post a picture as soon as I get a chance.

Yes, you need an adapter. I have the same OFH (from a Galant which, in general for the GVR4, don't use/have the oil pressure gauge unit and, therefore, no place for the sensor) and had to use adapters to mount mine.

Because a 6-bolt and 7-bolt have different bolt patterns for the front case/oil pump and OFH.

Although this is what I did, you should really look to use the correct adapter(s) (I don't think mine seals correctly, even with the the generous amounts of thread sealant). The threads are BSPT, not NPT, and you will not easily find anything of that sort at your local hardware store. Only thing I have come up with lately is using both of these together for that gauge: McMaster-Carr: 4936k242 and McMaster-Carr: 4936k241.

Thanks you really sumed it up. I wouldnt of figured I had a gvr4 ofh but now that I know i'll just have to work with it.
I'm thinking of buying a 3/8 bspt to 3/8 npt adapter (if there is such a monster :/)then buying this along with an aftermarket sender and guage and hopefully that'll solve everything

You can also tap the holes with a 3/8 NPT tap. Had to do it on all the dsm's I've installed aftermarket oil pressure gauges on. It works well.

I was seriously considering this but can you do it while it's still mounted to your car? Wouldnt all sorts of shards go into the ofh?

It's not recommendable, But, If you end yup taping it.


PUT SOME VASELINE OR GREASE to catch the sharp peaces.
