Has anyone used a 2g 5 speed AWD starter on an auto AWD 2g? As far as I know, the only difference is the gear length. Would there be any issues with the extended gear, has anyone done this?

From my experience, it won't work. The auto one is not long enough to engage the flexplate, and it won't start. Found this out by mistake when putting my car back together. I don't even know why I had an auto starter. LOL!

If you use the manual one on an auto, it may be too long and end up damaging something. But I;m not 100% on that.

Swapped it back out for the manual one, and it started right up.
