I mounted an electric Autometer at the head port as seen in the picture below. While oil temps are cold, I get 25 PSI readings and 18 when at operating temps.

Is there a restrictor at that part of the head or is that just acceptable oil pressure at this port?

Yea thats just a plug and alot of guys put a sensor there for oil pressure at the head. Your pressures sound great at the head.

does anyone know the acceptable oil PSI to the head?

Well I dont know what "acceptable" would be but I have my oil pressure gauge tapped there and it reads between 24 - 27 PSI on my car. No more than 27 other than when it is cold on the start up. But yeah, between 24 - 27 PSI all the other times. But you have to remember I am putting my engine through much greater circumstances than most daily dirven cars. But it seems to be fine as I have never encounterd any issues at these pressures. I hope this helps.

Does anyone know, what thread size that plug is?

So is this more or less relaible than pressure from the oil housing? Or is it the same?
What is the pressure like normally from the oil housing?

I was thinking it might be a good idea because if there was an oil leak or problem, it might show up first at the head (low pressure/fluctuations). Or would my thinking be wrong.
