Hello, so I bought this 96 TSi AWD with a 6 bolt swap done and a 2g head. It didn't have the head on the car when I bought it and was basically in pieces. Since I bought it I have pieced it back together, but now I'm trying to figure out another issue. I am running a mechanical oil pressure gauge from the oil filter housing, and I'm getting 85-90 psi cold at idle and 40 psi hot at idle.

The head however is not getting much oil at all. I removed my turbo feed line from the left side of the head and got barely a trickle. I pulled the valve cover and removed the distribution block. All the passages are clean. I blew compressed air through the galleys in the head that lubricate the cam lobes, and they are all clean. I am confused as to why I am not getting oil to the head.

I do have arp studs and it was a very snug fit to get the head on. Any input is greatly appreciated.

You do know that the head will have roughly 20psi less pressure than the reading off the OFH?? It has to do with the pressure loss across the oil filter. Heres a good read on that.

Also make sure those head stud holes are drilled out to accept the bigger 1G head stud.

Do you have a 7bolt head? If so you have to mill out the head stud holes for the bigger 6 bolt headstuds.

Also read the link posted for oil port mod #1. Its reccomended to have both mods done.

that really sucks. i don't want to have to remove the head again... thanks.

update: i removed the stud that was blocking oil flow and i ground it down about .2 mm to avoid removing the head again. now i am getting oil to the head. thanks for the help!
