After not having my 1g for a few years, I felt the need to finally get another one. The car is nice and mostly stock except for some of the crap that was attempted to it. Such as a crap 16g ebay turbo which I swapped for a 14b. There was an ungodly amount of RTV in odd places. The one that stuck out to me the most was the oil feed port from the head to the turbo.

After cleaning everything up, replacing the turbo, and getting things back together, I noticed some pretty big issues. Three of the manifold bolts are stripped and will need to be helicoiled, that wil be saved for another day.

THe alarming thing was the stripped oil feed port. I don't want to helicoil this as I have heard of the coil coming out when the banjo bolt is removed at a later time. I found an awesome thread on another method that I wish to attempt, but I need some clarification.

As I see it, I will be needing the following:

7/16 drill bit
11/32 drill bit

10x1.25 tap
1/4x18 tap??

1/4 18 npt?
Banjo bolt (size?) don't want to use the one that stripped the head

Is this correct. I have not worked much with NPT fittinngs, so I would like some clarification of the correct size. I also can't seem to find an NPT bottom tap anywhere. Any suggestions?

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to be as clear as possible so that I can get this right the first time.

I was avoiding pulling from the ofh because of the pressure that would be going into the stock 14b.

How would I go one size up on the head? Sounds like the banjo bolt and it's fitting wouldn't work if I did that.

Is npt a bad idea? I felt that putting an npt to -4an fitting would seem effective, but I have no clue with this kind of issue. First time I have ever dealt with a stripped oil port.
