Type of CAS (Camshaft position sensor)

Bought the car like this and did an engine rebuild. Im putting everything in its place now but I´m missing the Camshaft Position Sensor. I did some investigation and I noticed that some of this cars depeding the year may have a Crankshaft and not a Camshaft Postion Sensor . Is this the right CAS to buy for my car ? Is a 96 eclipse gst. Thanks

95-96 dsms had them on the intake cam gear, there should be a block off piece there.

I think both 95 and 96 cars used a Cam Angle Sensor on the front side of the engine on the intake cam sprocket. It's a Hall Effect sensor where the metal wheel is attached to the Sprocket and the sensor to the head.

The 97-99 engines had the CAS on the rear of the intake cam in the position of your picture.

The Crank Position Sensor for all 4G63 2G's in another Hall senson attached to the front cover and the metal plate on the crankshaft behind the timing belt.

Many 2G's have been swapped with 1G 6 bolt engines which used a CAS like the 90 version in you picture or the later 91+ which has a connector of the body rather than a pigtail like the 90. Those sensors have both a Cam Angle and a TDC sensor inside.

That looks like a 2g thermostat housing so check the other side of the engine for the CAS.

Think it’s for the front oxygen sensor. The bundle you’re holding runs under the thermostat housing

I'm wondering what you got for a crank sensor on this?
95-99 stock 7-bolt engines had/have a crank position sensor bolted to the oil pump with a 2 blade trigger plate on the crank mounted under the timing belt gear.

IF you have that - then you can run any of 3 different era cam position sensors - 1G, 2Ga, or 2Gb style.
