i have a 95 gst and it doesnt seem to have a tps. the engine has been swapped before. my car wont start it died going down the road at 30. could this be the cause idk what happened to it if there is one somewhere if it fell off or something thanks brandon

thanks for your time.
and nothing its just a black circle where one could be. maybe since i have a early 2g its at the crank. i read somewhere that esome early 2g's have them at crank. i have no clue how to get to that.

I checked my service information and according to Mitchell 1 there is a TPS at the top of engine on throttle body right where jeff99gs picture is circled, as for the camshaft sensor top rear of cylinder head. i checked both the year 95 and 98 and its the same so i dont know whats going on with your engine but i think some pics could help us figure out your problem.

Oh you are asking about the camshaft position sensor? I thought you were talking about the Throttle position sensor.

The Camshaft Position Sensor on the 1995 is behind the intake cam gear. The Crank position sensor is on the oil pump near the crank.

that looks like a pain in the ass to get to. how can i test this?i was driving down the road at 30 and my car just shut off. i tested fuel im sure its not timing going down the road at 30. i checked ecu.and my sparkplugs are bone dry. and i get spark on the wires. im preety sure its this. any opinions out there?
thanks for the pic helps a millon:)

heres the picture my service information provides, i know it shows the non turbo intake but this is the only pic i could find without paying more than i already do

I had the same thing happen to me. My guess is it is the Cam Angle Sensor. It should throw a code though if it is. On a '95 it's going to be where snowboarder714 pointed out. You might as well replace the timing belt and water pump while you're in there. The hardest part of the whole job is removing and putting on the timing belt covers. There are three parts to it.

ya thats the later model though early 2g dsm it is behind intake cam like in snowborder's pic.
anyone got any idea yet why it wont run?

Those things are the biggest PITA ever. You have to take the cam gear off of the cam just to get the damn thing on and off. It sucks so bad.

its a gravy job, maybe your motor is crankwalking and snapped the sensor?

However I'd put my money on the Balance shaft belt breaking and snapping the sensor.

Dont try to start it or it can get caught in your timing belt and stip it teeth leaving you with bent valves.

well i can tell you it dont look gravy at all.
and i doubt it would crankwalk so much as to break the sensor the car didnt feel that bad when it was running. remember it stopped going down the road at 30.it didnt shake and rattle to a stop either. i dont see any broken belts either.

The part is $50 bucks at autozone I just recently did mine. You will have to take the intake cam completely out and remove the cam gear from the cam. Set the cam back in the head then the caps then put your sensor on and then the gear and time it.

what was your car doing before. mine wont start at all. it has fuel, spark, changed ecu. what manual did you use to do it?

wouldn't start. Do you have a CEL? Mine was a faulty sensor becuase I crushed it while putting my motor back together.

no i turn it on and it doesnt stay lit though.the cel that is. it might be injector resistor pack to for some reason its not getting fuel and its in the rail.

If it was your cam sensor it shouldn't have spark. Try turning the motor over by hand Iam thinking you jumped timming.

So you are getting fuel? Do you hear the fuel pump when you turn your key on?

Actually the part on a first G is more of a hassle because it connects directly into the camshaft on the left side of the engine head looking at it under hood since its a distributorless car it utilizes the cam crank angle sensor it controls the timing to adjust it it has to to advanced or retarded in thousands of an inch to the left or right they are notorious for going bad on 90-94 and they cost a pretty penny its $440.00 for a brand new one from autozone i work there and i would never pay that for it ill go to the junkyard and steal one but yeah they changed them because they are prone to fail the first G had a way more efficient engine management system if you are doing a repair on a 4g63 90-94 the best year to look for to get replacement parts is the 1990 because they didn't have any of the rev limiters that are commonly found in 2nd G's and some 1St they had a more powerful ECM and any of the engine parts and vital electrical components were pretty much universal between the 90-94 Eagle Talon,Eclipse,And Plymouth Laser

Why off man yes thats how the 1Gs are but this is a 95-96 with a cam sensor on the right side of the head and the crank sensor on the timming cover by the crank. Yes its about a $50-70 part.

P.S. you shouldn't steal parts from your junkyard thats the big reason there are hardly any u pick and pulls anymore.;)

ya i d/c the return line from the fuel rail and it shot out. so do you think it possible i jumped timing going down the road it would shut off . and if i did jump timing is it easy to reset it? it turn over and crank just doesnt want to start i get a sputer every now and then. and remember my sparkplugs seem really dry like there hasnt been fuel for while in the combust. chamber

thanks man
