i have a 95 gst and it doesnt seem to have a tps. the engine has been swapped before. my car wont start it died going down the road at 30. could this be the cause idk what happened to it if there is one somewhere if it fell off or something thanks brandon

Yes If you jumped timing it would make the car shut off while driving.

If you suspect the timing jumped DO NOT try to start it anymore. You're only doing MORE damage if it did jump timing.

Check your timing marks ASAP. Take off the upper and lower Timing belt cover. Then turn the crank clockwise with a 1/2 rachet till you get it to TOP DEAD CENTER (TDC)

All of you timing marks should line up at this point. If they are NOT lined up while at TDC then you have JUMPED timing and will more than likely have bent valves.

The part is $50 bucks at autozone I just recently did mine. You will have to take the intake cam completely out and remove the cam gear from the cam. Set the cam back in the head then the caps then put your sensor on and then the gear and time it.

Wow, you really like wasting time and effort. You DO NOT have to touch the cam, hold pull of the V/C and use a wrench to hold the cam and loosen the gear.

well i can tell you it dont look gravy at all.
and i doubt it would crankwalk so much as to break the sensor the car didnt feel that bad when it was running. remember it stopped going down the road at 30.it didnt shake and rattle to a stop either. i dont see any broken belts either.

Its not as bad as you think. And ummm unless you have vision that allows you to see through plastic covers than you wont see a broken balance shaft belt.

And FYI, I believe they call the "Crank" sensor a cam sensor, they label them A and B if I recall right.

there is a crank sensor and a cam sensor. i dont need see through plastic cover vision to know it more than likely not a balance shaft i think i would have noticed it. im sure it has jumped timing which is bad cause now i have bent valves ######.

Thanks for the info although it wasn't very nice but I will deff try that next if (god forbid) my cps goes out again.

cavillac has hit the nail right on the head. When my DSM link threw a cam pos sensor code, it was because the balance shaft belt snapped and destroyed the sensor. Never under estimate what goes on in the engine bay. I'm sure I'm not the first person, or the last person to say this.................... if you have to replace either the timing belt, balance shaft belt, water pump or any of the tensioners, do yourself a favor................REPLACE ALL OF THEM AT ONCE!
