Camshaft position sensor

Hey guys Im having trouble with my 98 gst automatic. Today I replaced the starter on it everything went great. I went to start the car and no start? I mean it would crank but wouldnt turn over so i went back and checked everything out and i noticed that my camshaft position sensor was hanging (i guess from me leaning on it) so i wiggled it back into place now the car starts and runs for about 5 seconds then cuts back off. I took the sensor back apart and its broke. Could this be the reason why the car wont stay running? thanks guys

Yep.

The cam sensor identifies which injector to fire and when, without a signal the ECU won't inject fuel.
