Turbo Boost Creep Creeping T25 14B 16G [Merged]

Spinning uncontrollably, ei boost creep, over boosting, not boosting at wastgate pressure like it ought to.

Yes you are SOL on this one w/o an external. You coullldddd port it out and do some mods to reduce the amount it creeps, but the trade off seems to be it blows open once you want to turn the boost up purposefully. You could also try a o2 dump style o2 housing; they are loud and annoying at only 10psi though!

Why do you need rod bolts???

So you have 550cc or bigger injectors, with something to tune, and a 190 lph or bigger pump, yes? Stock fuel system is only good to ~15psi safely
Arp head studs are nice insurance aswell.

Another problem could be that the spring on the wastegate actuator is giving loose, that actuator was design to open at around what, 14psi is it? You could replace it with a stronger actuator.

... Wait nvm, I had the wrong idea so forget what I said LOL. That would only apply if you have trouble building boost.

you could also port your O2 housing to help eliminate the creep. like the other guy said, with the large exhaust, the wastegate can't expel enough gases to control the turbine.

I know its not stock but I cant remember what size it is I know its stock cold side but not stock hot side. It is a 6bolt swap and I have a 190 walbero fuel pump, But I was hearing that the rod bolts on the 6 bolts cant handle up to 400hp. so I don't really want to run 20psi on a built motor with stock rod bolts :)

I actually have all of that LOL arp headstuds moly lube 550cc injectors and 190 wlbero am running apexi piggy on it right now because I have to get a my full fuel management back from a buddy.

stocks good for 450 hp just fine. You don't have a tdo6 hot side, nobody is that goofy. What injectors? are you using a safc, chipped, dsmlink?(nvm, didnt see your update) 20 psi isn't something you should do without the right tools, thats just asking for a meltdown!

Its common to use the stock hot side and a different cold side. For example, a 16g tdo5, a 18g tdo5 and a 20g tdo5.

My computer is chipped but I am not running DSM link I need to cable still :\, what is SAFC? Its not like its ridding on 20psi all the time its just hitting it every so often. Its just creeps really fast up there :) 550cc injectors by the way

yah the meltdown is what I am afraid of :)

Also you should invest in a wideband o2 system like the innovate lc-1 or aem uego. Thats if you haven't already.

Why don't you go into your profile, and fill it all out as extensively as possible. This would enable everybody to give you the absolute best feedback thats possible, without wasting time asking about your mods in the future.

yah I need to get a wide band still just the money thing :) I am going right now to fill out the mod stuff..

ok stuff is filled out so you don't have to ask about mods anymore :), thanks for all the advice guys that was quicker then I expected.

I have my 14b off the car, freshening it up with new gaskets and while i'm at it i am in the middle of a argument, to keep the 2g o2 housing or go external dump.

I think of it this way, in the end i will upgrade my o2 housing regardless, but now that the turbo is off, why not go ahead and do it for once, that AND i will be doing my exhaust really soon as my downpipe comes in tomorrow, what do you guys think ?
Will the 14b creep on a full 3" exhaust ? How about on a 3" system with an external dump ? Need input fast for tonight !

Yes.
My 14b creeps when my mbc is 16psi and lower, once i get up to around 17psi and up i have now issues but its ported to not creep at high boost levels. But the turbine housing was ported specifically to not creep at high boost levels. I have an externally dumped o2 housing as well.

A free-er flowing exhaust is only going to make it creep more. I see extensive porting in your future haha.

If the turbo is off the car, why not do a little creative porting in order to prevent creep....then you can run whatever housing you want?

The best method is to port the housing inlet throat into a "D" shape, leaving a little shelf underneath the wastegate hole to direct airflow toward the hole.

What everyone else said. It will definitely creep if you have an aftermarket exhaust. So porting the exhaust side and if you can, put on a larger flapper and port the WG hole while you're at it.

Thanks guys, so i think i will stick to my 2g housing and port the wastegate entry a little.
So after porting the turbo, even with a factory recirce'd o2 housing, it should not creep anymore ?

Will it be ok if i run my stock o2 housing with a full 3" exhaust after everything gets ported or is it still recommended to upgrade the housing ?

Could of went external off the manifold to reduce creep DRASTICALLY. And even have the option of routing it back into the exhaust if you want. 14b is going to breath like a mini dragon with a 3" exhaust.

A 2G o2 housing is no different than a 1G housing with the exception of o2 sensor placement and a *slightly* better-flowing wastegate passage. Both have an outlet of around 2" at the downpipe flange....so you'll want this ported as well.

Thanks justin, mind if i bother you with the same question ? Do you think running my stock o2 housing for now, will i creep even after the poerting or will i be fine ?
Any of your great knowledge will be greatly appreciated !

The o2 housing itself has little effect on whether the turbo creeps or not, but the small outlet is going to neck your overall flow down a little right at the downpipe- which is why I suggested getting the o2 housing ported as well.

Although, for what it would cost to get the stock o2 housing ported you can probably pick up one of those blingy o2 dumps from eBay which would put your creep worries to rest as long as you're willing to put up with a little noise.

Jose, the person you bought this turbo from had it on their car with a full 3 inch exhaust and had no creep whatsoever. I say give it a shot. If it does creep, just get an external wastegate setup. You know you will down the road eventually, so why not do it once and for all? You think things too much and try to find a way around things, fix them once and for all buddy, that's the way to go.

EXTERNAL/HAFE = WIN OR WIN MY FRIEND.

***Seen a few cheap TiAl 38mm's on CL recently. Jump on one when you can.

Chicken his wasn't full 3", it had quite a few different sized pipes welded up LOL, but anywho i do agree on your outlook overall in the long run.

Justin i agree with you as well, i think i will save up a little more and get the dumped o2 housing and be done with it.

Thanks olot guys for the help !

My 14b with a full 3" catless exhaust was creeping to 20psi at 4500 RPM's with a unported stock 2g o2 housing. I put on a Megan Racing recirculated o2 housing without porting anything on the exhaust housing or wastegate flapper and now it isn't going over 15 psi even up to 6,500 RPMs. Boost is set at 13-14 psi so it helped out a lot!
