Turbo Boost Creep Creeping T25 14B 16G [Merged]

Look at it this way, the exhaust can only flow as much as the most restrictive part will allow so you may as well just have the 2.5 all the way back

With my dp and exhaust I still had boost creep. Some guys talk about good porting of the turbo or manifold forgot which one was it.

Yea i would go 2.5 with down pipe and all but cant find one for the price of 3in megan down pipe or i would! But i had a few people tell me with the ss 02 housing it takes creep away.Said that it's not supposed to but it did with the same setup!

I plan to run 18lbs on my 14b setup with 3" exhaust and fmic I was told that I should take some boost creep into consideration due to my exhaust? Trying to find some answers and suggestions since I though that mainly 16g's suffered from boost creep

after i got my 3 in. catback i was creeping on the stock T-25

Will it cause boost creep, Not sure as each car/setup will be different. The possibility of it, a good chance with the 3" exhaust. I don't have a lot of information about what will reduce boost creep outside of a larger wastgate flapper and porting the hotside of the turbo. But these were as you said for the 16G but should still apply to the 14B.

That is because your exaust is the path of least resistance now, rather than it being the waste gate. The exhaust takes the path of least resistance, so more is passing throught the turbo rather than exiting through the waste gate causing boost creep.

It's possible that you will experience boost creep with a free flowing 3" exhaust system. The reason why people experience it on the 16g is due to the inlet design of the wastegate which makes the turbine less restricting and ultimately increasing airflow to the motor.

I have a full 3-inch turbo back exhaust (no cat) and creep like crazy. It'll hold until about 4500 rpms and then creep up to 20ish from there. I ported my hotside and o2 housing as well. There is a very good chance you will get creep.

i have the 16 g installed and have been thinking i was creeping bc of my MBC but after reading this i might have the same problems of creep.

Wide open or completely shut on the MBC and still can turn 22+ PSI at WOT

My 14b creeps as well with 3" turbo back. It creeps to 20psi , so I need to port the hot side and get a bigger waste gate flapper? I was thinking to convert to a external waste gate on the 14b would that make any difference?

Porting and an external setup would most likely resolve it. Dumping could help some, but not much, and you may be harrassed by the fuzz due to the loud sound it makes.

An external gate would only help if it's off the manifold. A gate off the o2 housing will still creep because it's the turbine housing design that needs altered. You could put on a larger flapper but that will only help so much if the design is already flawed. Not to mention it will also be easier to blow open at higher boost settings.

Generally what I tell people is to just port the hell out of the housing and leave the flapper alone.

Porting helps. Externally gating helps as well. If you go 02 mounted external, they generally port the hell out of the turbo's old flapper hole.

::edit::

jinx bye me a coke.

I am going to call shenanigans, on an O2 external gate you remove the flapper altogether, the flapper was the largest part of the problem because it didn't open wide enough.

Yeah open dumps for me will be a no! Does anyone sell a external waste gate set ups for the 14b,16g ?

You either weld a plug into the housing if you're going to mount off the manifold, or port the crap out of the hole if you're going to do an 02 mounted external. So no kit is needed.

The flapper opens up enough.

As stated, the reason why a 16g creeps is due to the actual inlet. Have you compared a ported and non ported inlet? If a VAST amount of material is going to be removed then yes it will work but just by removing the flapper and putting on a gate, it will still have the same restrictions as before. Perhaps I should have clarified a little more.

Here is a 14b non/ported

My 16G is unported now, but I thought that porting the housing external gate or not was common knowledge by now, however porting on the internal gate is still more likely to creep then porting and external gate.
