Turbo Boost Creep Creeping T25 14B 16G [Merged]

Write up on vfaq is a pretty good one or searching it on here or google and you will find a few write ups with pictures. Buy a 7cm gasket for the turbo and match the inlet to the turbo to the new gasket and then port the inlet to the wastegate within the turbo itself. I would use a carbide burr and air powered tools to do it. Then finish it will sanding to smooth it out. Make sure you clean it out really well too. You can either port the o2 housing also or buy a new one.

i read that whole article.
thanks
gives me a good idea. im gonna buy a 16 with shaftplay but still useable

and for the 7cm gasket

do i just search at part stre or does it go to something in specific

k so by porting the turbine inlet i increase flow not solving boost creep.

by making the turn to the WG not 90* and port the flapper hinge so it cAN OPEN ALL THE WAY-solving boost creep

correct?

I hooked up the wga and the arm wouldent reach the WG flapper so I had to hit the actuater with an air compressor and make it extend so it could reach the flapper hinge.

Also the waste gate hinge barely moves now when I touch it with the air compressor(after the wga is all hooked up) so does this mean the actuater is forcing the WG shut. BeCause of the rods length?

I tried adjusting the length to make it longer but it wouldent budge in eiether direction

So, I recently found a leak coming from the downpipe, as you guys know, i have the stock 1st gen o2 housing going to 2 1/2 to three inch straight pipe, now would boost creep make my car build boost in first but not register it? what are symptoms of boost creep my car seems to run great and strong other then in first gear of course the boost is kind of delayed and only hits about 7 lbs out the the 20 lb setting on the car... so can nay one help me?

Most cars do not build full boost in first gear because there isn't enough load on the engine to be able to build full boost because of the torque that 1st gear provides. As long as you're building full boost in the higher gears you should be ok, as that is perfectly normal.:)

Boost creep is when the boost creeps beyond the preset maximum boost level.:notgood:

Well thank you so if my my boost is peaked at 20, creep would be peaking at 22-24??? or ?

I have the same issue. I have a T04E and only get about 7 psi in first but 18 psi in all other gears.

If you have Boost Creep, what happens is that in high rpms the engine is pushing out so much exhaust that even with the waste-gate remaining open, it isn’t able to divert enough gas to keep the turbine from spinning faster, so your boost pressure continues to build.

Well Since this is the boost creep thread Ill post here. I finaly got my fuel ussue worked out but I get boost creep at 5k rpms and WOT. I read the how to's to fix it. My question is Could this also be the reason I dont feel the boost being applied?

No. You should notice a significant increase in power when the turbo is supplying boost. Boost creep is the inability of the wastegate to limit the maximum boost. Generally, more boost = more power.

yea you might be hitting fuel cut which in case you loose power like i was originally because of my boost creep went past 15psi which tells the ecu to cut the power so you dont hurt anything what is your current turbo setup

Ok so i know this has been posted before but i couldnt find after looking for quite some time so im sorry...the problem is i keep getting different psi with each gear...1st and 2nd gears the pressure is acceptable but i got to 3rd, 4th, and 5th and floor it and goes up to 20 psi and sometimes even hits fuel cut...its really bothering me and didnt used to it...now im almost sure its the boost controller spring but i dont know how to fix it...also the spring has been slightly cut...i also just rerouted the boost controller lines...since it didnt have a nipple on the j-pipe i had it going to the intake manifold...i drilled a hole in the j-pipe and put a nipple on with some jb weld and its currently drying...any suggestions? thanks a million

Sounds like it's boost creep. Either Port out the wastegate hole, get supporting mods and tune for a higher psi, or go external wastegate and remove flapper. You could also try a external dump o2 housing as it dumps wastegate exhaust to atmosphere.

I would start out with porting wastegate.

I have a 7cm^2 ebay housing with the big flapper on a s16g. I had to port it because the way they come the hole is smaller than stock. I ported it out, and it only creeps around 1 psi depending on what gear I'm in.

I have a 1G TSI thats boosting about 12 psi. The problem is when i get into the higher RPM's (in lets say second gear) my boost gauge jumps to over 17 PSI and seems like theres no boost at all . I know it should not be goin that high because i have a 16g with stock injectors and should hit fuel cut at about 16 PSI any feedback would be appreciated.

First I don't post much here but I am always in the forum doing research. My car is 97 tsi and I had install a TD05 20g, Intake, front mount intercooler, Boost controller a ported exhaust manifold, 3inch full exhaust from the turbo back, walbro 255 all the maintenance has been done, also I am about to change the biss screw this weekend and the intake manifold gasket. I did a blt last week and I fix all the leaks execpt the one in the intake manifold gasket. The car is running great but I am undecided on what to buy next because I am experiencing boost creep the car goes to 25 pounds in second and third so what should I do now buy dsmlink next or fix the boost creep issue with a exhaust manifold and a wastage, I can only spent the money now in either or no both and I will like to drive the car but I am afraid that the head gasket my go and then I have a bigger problem. What do you guys think I should do next? Thanks.

What do you have for an O2 housing? Is your turbine housing ported? Here's a tech article on how to port the turbine housing.

I had bad boost creep on my 14b, even after porting, so I through on an external dump O2 housing and the boost creep dissapeared.

Lastly, instead of a new manifold, you could always put an external wastegate off the O2 housing like this.
