I also have a 14b that is creeping on my 3" exhaust.
I'm just doing it the easy way, i have a hafe manifold on the way and i am going to be running an external wastegate off it, done...
No porting ever needed.
No guarantees there. Be safe and just port it while you've got the turbo off anyways. Do it right the first time.
The flapper could and probably would still blow open at some point.Just curious...couldn't you lock the flapper down by keeping the actuator on there but not feeding it a boost source?

]I plan to weld my flapper arm shut and then take off the wastegate[/B], same thing my friends have done with success.
To the OP, as of today 02/19/11, i had my flapper arm welded shut and took off the stock wastegate, will be putting in an external wastegate soon.
If by the time i get mine you already have done yours, let me know how the result was, if not i'll keep you updated.
Thats the most common thing I see people do.. It works with great success

If you are unsure how to do I port job, Id recommend taking it to a machine shop and let someone who is experienced handle it..
last thing you want and need is to replace a turbo for a silly mistake!
