Turbo Boost Creep Creeping T25 14B 16G [Merged]

Also, a cheep and easy fix for the moment would to be getting a manual boost controller. If your on stock fuel and your shooting to 20psi, your fresh build wont be lasting long.

It shouldnt be damaged. As long as your not pushing that 20psi, its never gotten more air than fuel, so you should be fine. Just be sure you keep an eye and ear out for something that might go wrong

okay well what ive been doing is driveing at 10 witch is easy enough for getting from point a to point b and when i want a little bit of power i kind of perfected easeing into my boost and ill let it climb to between 13 and 15 before letting off to 10 .

dose this sound like a solution for the time being .

eventually in the next month or 2 im just going to have to buy the injectors, fuel pump and intercooler. my friends saving me all 3 for 250$ when i get the cash up. i just cant drive a eclipse like this especially after spending 3 grand on it. i wouldnt of spent the money if i dint love the feeling of full out boosting so much and right now although it sounds like a beast it dosnt seem as fast at 10 lbs as my old t28 and i dont know how long i can last with other cars instigating , today a SRT 4 pulled up and i thought i had a good chance at beating him if i could really drive my car but, i was forced to submit :(

As was mentioned, creep is when the WG doesn't flow enough exhaust. It's job is to bypass enough exhaust around the turbine so that you stop building boost, and the 16g's internal WG just can't do that until boost hits around 20psi. The 16gs are notorious for creeping on a 3" exhaust. If you're going to upgrade injectors, you're also going to include rewired pump, AFPR, and a tuning device, and 6AN fuel lines wouldn't hurt. The FMIC will help with knock at higher boost levels, too.

You can try disconnecting the WGA arm from the lever on the turbine housing, checking that the lever turns easily by hand, then doing a pull with the arm off. If it boosts past a few psi, it's creep for sure, if it doesn't, it still might be creep. The WGA doesn't have enough throw to open the WG flapper more than about 30*, but when you disconnect the arm, it can open all the way, so this test might not show creep even though it creeps with the WGA arm connected.

Using the gas pedal to limit boost will work just fine for now. Don't push the car past 15psi, but holding it closer to 10psi is even better.

If you get the fuel and tuning mods to support 20psi, you're done. But other options are external wastegate or porting the turbine housing. I'd recommend either fuel/tuning and running 20psi or the external WG options over porting, even though porting is the cheapest option (if you do it yourself).

Sure wish someone would have given this guy an answer. I have a similar issue. It idles slightly rough, but I can pull it in and out of the shop fine. But if I try to take it out on the street it just boost spikes to the moon, hits fuel cut and such. I take good care of my car, but it does have 230K on the clock. It has recent iridium plugs, ngk wires. Its a mostly stock 95 gsx, with upper ic pipe, greddy bov, ported t25, aftermarket stainless exhaust mani. injen air filter, home depot mbc. I have comped it, and its all good, no exhaust leaks, no vacuum leaks (that I've found) tested the waste gate actuator, replaced it with a known good one. My MBC is plumbed off the bov vac line to the T at the compressor housing. Tried running the stock BCS (restrictor removed), still boost like mad. I don't have an aftermarket boost gauge in it tho.... Any help is appreciated. Im a tech, but I don't get alot of free time to mess with my own stuff, and have been pretty frustrated.
Thanks.

I had the same exact issue after changing my spark plugs and spark plug wires. Not knowing, I changed my plugs with the expensive Iridium plugs, and my car ran like crap. I did some searches and found that our cars like the cheap NGK copper plugs. I went and got those and it fixed my car from fumbling and backfiring on acceleration.

this is the first time i have ever had a turboed car and i have wanted a gsx for a long time and i have a 97 gsx with boost creep...thats what the guy said i bought it from...when im driving the car hard it will go to 10psi and then quickly go up and im worried its going to hurt the car.i have a fmic and a 16g turbo and greddy blow off valve and 3in magnaflow exhaust....i want to get the boost creep fixed before i do anything else to the car and i just dont know where to start on fixing the boost creep...i have read tons of forums on boost creep and some ppl say porting and then some ppl say get a catalac converter...and some ppl just get a external wastegate....i dunno if its any different on my car or not but i really need help fixing it so i can start doing other stuff to it an not have to worry about boost creep...:banghead:

Want a permanent solution ? Get an external wastegate. I guarantee you can say goodbye to boost creep for damn good after that.

I'm very confused and seriously getting annoyed at this car. After being plagued with tuning issues, first got rid of the knock, then the Fuel trims went to whack, O2 readings off, I replaced all of the sensors and lowered the boost. Upped the fuel pressure to try and compensate the maxed out trims AND out of no where I suddenly start getting boost creep in 2nd and 3rd. I'll floor it and it'll hit 13 psi(which is where controller is set), then all of a sudden it'll just keep climbing and at first I thought it was a spike, so I kept the foot down, glanced back at the boost gauge and it was climbing towards 20psiOMG I immediately lifted and got back on it and it held firm at 13 psi.

I've tried different ways to accelerate and if I just bang it down and go it'll seem to be ok, but as soon as I try and feed it in to WOT (say downshifting on the interstate), it'll hit 13 then climb way up:confused:

I'm at a loss:banghead: I have had the same setup for 6 months and nothing like this before. Other than bumping my fuel pressure up, what could be causing this.

well mitsubishi turbo's are known for boost creep, have you ported your wastegate on that turbo? The flapper may be sticking closed as well. check to make sure the wastegate is functioning properly.

It's a almost brand new Evo 16g. I installed it in February. Didn't port the flapper, but will look into the wastegate actuator. Strange it just started happening.

I have the same problem. This winter I am porting out the turbo. If that dosen't work it will be an external wastgate for me.

i had same problem my e3 16g was creeping for 4 months until i went with external wastgate, its the best way to go

You may want to check your vacuum lines that run to and from your boost controller. One may have developed a small split or hole. Those vacuum lines are cheap and easy enough to replace.

+1. I can vouche for that one. I had mine set at 12psi and one night on my way home, I suddenly hit 18psi. After looking around, I found a big gash in my MBC hose right where tha zip tie was holding it down.

I am having the same issue now after just installing a big 16g about a week ago. Im just going to save and go with an external wastegate setup. Its is probably the best way to go with the 16g. It will solve any problems you may have with the internal wastegate, whether it be the actuator or the flapper not functioning properly. And I currently have an o2 dump and it doesn't solve the problem, so external wastegate it is for me =D

The car is in the airport parking lot right now and I'm not able to get a look at it. But will check the vac' lines. My MBC lines are real close to the exhaust mani', so yeah maybe it has dried out and cracked.

As for the external WG, how do you do that? Is it an easy conversion and what else is needed to do this?

I'm planning on pulling the engine after Christmas and doing a rebuild, so would this be a big upgrade to add to the list of things to be done or is it fairly cheap?

Thought about the external dump, but haven't seen any good threads on the true benefit of doing this, so I think I'll pass on that idea right now (unless someone can convince me the big benefit is??).
