Do an work on your o2 housing at all?

Using a die grinder and carbide bit, port your O2 housing, exhaust manifold housing, and turbine housing. This will make your turbo spool up faster, relieve unwanted backpressure, and increase your top-end power.

Found that on buscher's website about boost creep.

No I didn't. I don't have time for porting work, or else I would of. But I seen some many post with internally gated 20g's and have boost creep(ITS REALLY COMMON I GUESS). Anyways *correct me if I'm Wrong*, the internal flapper doesn't open as much as external gates, so that led me to belive that its useless to port it because IT MIGHT NOT get rid of the creep.

There needs to be a good path for the exhaust to bypass the turbine, otherwise its limited to how much it can flow out of the flapper even before the flapper.
You need to take the turbine housing off of your turbo and grind the hell out of it for about an hour. Smooth the casting as well as take the 90* turn from a top view looking in. Smooth that into a nicer bend.

I've done some reading on boost creep and I'm definitely experiencing it. I have a 7bolt with evo3 510cc injectors and 14b turbo, 3" free flowing exhaust (no cat), o2 dump, and turbo xs mbc. Basically what I'm trying to do is see if there's any way to fix my boost creep WITHOUT porting. I would LOVE to port the wastegate and all that stuff. But I just dont have the time for it right now. I know it started boost creeping AFTER I installed my o2 dump, thats why I got rid of the stock boost solenoid. Should I just install a catalytic converter and hope that solves it? Its kinda annoying to not be able to get on it much for fear of blowing the turbo or something.

What boost are you running? You have too much exhaust for your profile mods. If you had all the fuel and fuel control [mods], you could run 20 psi. You probly need to ( if you have ) put your stock down pipe and cat [ converter ] back on, and your creep should go away. You can check my profile, I have a big 16g w/no fuel mods or control and I am running 15 PSI w/no creep.I am sure if I did not have just the 3" catback on, I would be creeping.

Easy my friend, take your car to a local muffler shop, and you know where the wastgate arm connects to the flapper arm ? Where the little clip goes on to hold the door from falling off ? Have the muffler shop weld the arm shut to the housing, that way if you ever decide to or if you sell the turbo and the next owner decides to run a recirced o2, he can just grind the weld off.

I too am having boost creep issues I'm assuming is from "too much exhaust". I'm on stock fuel system, Apexi N1 DP and full 3" exhaust no cat. I bought a SS o2 dump housing hoping it would help my creep issue but after reading the OP I'm scared it might make things worse :(

What about those External gates at the o2 housing(since they collect exhaust from all 4 cyls)??? Are they any better then the Manifold? Also, There are 02 housings ment to vent and some to recirculate back to the downpipe.... will I still have creeping issues if I recirculate?

With the debate on where to place your external gate you, having the gate where the 4 runners combine is the best option as it allows you to relieve the exhaust gases from all 4 cylinders instead of just that one cylinder. Is taking it off that one cylinder bad no not really, but it isn't the best option there are plenty of people having success doing it that way though. If you have an external mounted on the o2 housing you may still have to port out the wastegate hole depending on how much boost your planning on run. If you recirc you shouldn't have creeping issues you just want to make sure that the exhaust that you recirc back in comes kind of smoothly so that it doesn't create a bunch of turbulence in the exhaust flow.

what is boost creep?why is it bad? and do i have it?

my car is a auto awd 98 gsx. i have a evo 16g installed. if i keep agout a 4th of the way down and anything past that it shoots right to 20 lbs.

i have a vaccum line from the jpipe to the waste gate accuator.

my old t28 used to boost 15lbs somehow also so idk maybe its just my car?

please help before i ruin my fresh rebuild and new turbo.

well depending on what your mods are when you upgrade your exhaust or your manifold by either porting or getting a performance one, you will have more flow all around but not in your turbo, there for the gasses are not being released fast enough from the wastgate and o2 housing causing you to over power your boost controller, so boost creep is when your car hits a a desired boost level at a small rpm then creep up to a higher undesired boost level as the rpms increase.... does that make sence?

This could also be symptomatic of wastegate failure. Check to see that it is opening, or that there is no clog on the vac line. I hope you are lifting off the throttle as soon as you see the boost go this high.

Also to answer why it is bad;

Typically you tune for 15psi and creep to 20psi your fueling will not be adequate for that boost level.

Your options are to wither fix the boost creep or tune for it!!

alright well i do think i have a bigger than stock exaust, i belive its 3 inchs all the way back so that might be whats doing it ?

like i said my old t28 even when it was all hooked up and tunned down still boosted between 13 and 15 .

so maybe my gage is off? or do autos just boost higher maybe?

either way i will look into the solutions listed.
