So as you guys had read before my trans took a crap on me and I decided to build everything at once. I decided to go with the shep stage 4 trans build and am shipping it out later this week. I have that settled, but I can't seem to decide on what to do with the motor. I found a forged rod/piston combo on thedsmgraveyard that caught my eye. What are the stock cranks good to? Should I have it replaced as well? who makes a nice full rotating assembly that is good to a nice amount of power, but nothing over the top? I just want to be in the 450-500hp range, so I thought about one of the frankenstein builds, but I really just want to get some input from you guys. Cost efficient is always a plus, but I am not entirely limited on a budget.

First have you looked read the vendor reviews of the dsmgraveyarad? I would read more on forged set up,s so many even look at other vendors for parts and have another shop build it for you, have you looked around yet? It seems like you havent done much research, take your time, do some reading and youll have a better idea for your goals.

I have just been having troubles trying to get used to and navigate through the forum... I now know that graveyard is out of the picture. I'll try to find some more info on here.

Doh.... Well you got to correct me...

What can you bolt together to bust the Shep Stage 4 tranny he is getting?

We are talking right now about a good ole Eagle Wiseco combo. He just wants the rotating assembly and he is going to build it himself. I haven't talked to him about balancing for it yet but that combo should make some thunder.

Oh ok!

Not going to sell him the secret 2.9L stroker with the custom block extention for 6.5 inch rods? ROFL ROFL ROFL ROFL

:shhh: Thats only between you and I man... Keep that one on the DL

If you weld enough the deck does get taller. I have been practicing my stick welding skills! That 6013 gets pretty solid after a while.

Make it easy, 2 imch thick steel, think torque plate with water ports and undersized bores.

Now install sleeves thu the extention and into the block.

Now you have a tall deck 4g

Found it and went over reviews! :thumb: That should help me a lot. what are a lot of you guys doing as far as head work goes?

A good cam and spring combo are a necessity for sure. A nice valve job and some port work are something to think about while you have it apart.

probably gonna go with 1mm os valves. ive been seeing a lot on here with the hks 272 cam. is this a good cam to run for a 500hp build? ill have to find a good shop for the porting work around here. i had a guy do all my head work on my camaros and some of my other cars who was GREAT and very inexpensive, but he passed away this year so i need to find somewhere else... may even ship the head somewhere reputable to make sure its done properly.
