after listening to everyone on my 2g block im goin with wiseco pistons , eagle rods, beefing up main cap...wondering what all i should do to the head to achieve 500+ hp. figured i would need stronger springs but wondered which ones?. also if springs are changed do you have to change valves?. if so which ones.?...anything else need to be done to head?..thanks everyone....(95 talon tsi build)....

u really dont have too but its recommended that u do since you already have it out.. you can find ss valves on ebay. 3g i think.. or if you want to go 1mm bigger for gains.,, what wiseco pistons. they tend to crack should go with other pistons. unless its their HD ones then your good.

You could look at member HP ratings, look at their mod list and copy-cat them.

What cams you plan on running?
Beehive springs are good.

I'd recommend forcedperformance.com

Why would you go through all that work to put Ebay parts on your 500hp build. Gotta pay to play, you want to pay twice on a rebuild?

Some minor port work will help, pay close attention to the cams you choose. If you arent sure ask around, there are several good shops that can help you decide but dont go overboard with super high end cams.

For what it's worth, I agree with the other guys. I'm doing a build aimed at running 10's, and I'm using Comp 101400 cams, EnginePro valves with the nitride coating, springs, and steel retainers. I was told by my buddy (and machinist) that titanium retainers wear out quicker on the street... Please correct me if that's not true. I should note that I'm using a 6 bolt, though...

A lot of people think that head porting involves hogging the ports out and that bigger = better/more power. Its not entirely true, you have to look at the possible power band the engine will operate within among other things, big ports often loose velocity over smaller ports. Its an odd science though, and there are a ton of recipes out there. I prefer taking out as little material as possible, you can never really add any back in afterall :)
