head getting resurface,what to do till then?

I will openly admit I have not searched as I am on my phone and its kinda hard to navigate.




Ok,so my head is out of my car getting resurfaced,and I am bored. Anything I can do to my engine bay now to clean it up or to make it easier to put the head back on when it gets here? Detailed instructions would help as I'm pretty new to the dsm game and have only done maintenance work to it so far. Mods on my profile aren't on yet.

Hi while your head is off a good mod is to port match the exhaust manifold gain a little power for free if you have a die grinder with carbide bits. But for great ideas go to vfaq.com and they will give you tons of ideas.

Yeah, clean the top of the block, and you can check it with a straight edge to make sure it isn't to jacked up. You can go ahead and get whatever gaskets may be stuck to whatever parts off, cause gaskets always seem to take forever to get scraped off.

And make sure you already have all the parts and supplies you will need to put it back together, even simple things like silicone. I hate having to take an hour break just to go get some goddamn silicone from the part store.

When you get on a computer you should look up the oil port mod. It opens up the oil passageway a little so you don't get lifter tick.

I got a ported 2g exh mani, so no need to port the stocker.I also removed all the gaskets,and got new ones, and I have arps waiting to go in. I gotta check the block for straigness,thank you for reminding me.all items needed are on hand,copper spray,silicone,oil,etc. Any link to the oil port mod?I don't have a pc onfourtunately .as for cleaning up the engine bay,I removed the condenser and any ac related items,anything else I can remove?

Also do NOT use copper spray. What hg are you using? I would advise the stock composite

You can cut that motor mount so you can reinstall your head. With ARP's, the head has to drop straight down, and the corner of the motor mount gets in the way.

cut the motor mount when i did the t-belt.

also, the copper spray is going on exh mani gasket, not the hg. the hg is some cheapie no-name one, but with the arps should be good to go, i wont be seeing more than like 20psi on my 14b. if that.
