I'm not holding my breath on another outing this year anymore. I'd love to get out again and will try but things keep holding me back. Due to balancing issues I've decided to pick up my spare driveshaft from up north and install a new yolk on it, instead of trying to piece together a driveshaft from two down here. That's going to take a time when I can get up there and pick it up. Also ETS sent me the replacement intercooler, but forgot the couplers this time :( I sent the original ones back because they were the wrong color and they forgot to return anything. Also the E-85 in the area has switched to E-70 as near as I can tell, so I'm worried I won't be able to tune it in properly and make the same power. Although the tracks are open for another month my job is coming into it's busiest season and I have very little spare time. I haven't officially thrown in the towel yet, but I'm starting to convince myself to be happy with hitting this years goals and try to look forward to next year.

This winter's plans if possible
Switch to V3 (Link) & Possibly speed density
Suspension
Rear bushings

Somebody should post a list of what it takes to run the 14b into 11's with a list of weight reduction.

Well my daily is a 2g fwd . It took a stock 6bolt, stock cams, fmic ,gmmaft , dsmlink, 650s, walbro255, e85. Weight is 3080 with me in it.... aka full weight LOL. Cars fastest pass is an 11.87@119 with the 14b at 25 lbs

Good times, but unless you weigh negative lbs, your scale cant be right for full weight with you in there.. .

Depending on what year his car is there are small variances but the 2G GS-T should weigh about 2954 lbs. so that would mean he weighs 126 lbs. or so. Wish I weighed that......:D

haha no i weigh 175ish. there really is very little taken out of the car the ac is gone and the front bumper suport for the fmic. but that was weighed at norwalk during the shootout so unless there scale is off i guess my car weighs more :thumb:

My 2g. ya I need to update all my info sometime soon.

Or post up what your current set-up is right here in the thread to start. Not calling BS or anything, but 11.87@119 is a strong run for over 3000 lbs. FWD DSM, so I'd like to know where you're getting your ET.....slicks? etc.

Trust me I know I've been overjoyed with how well the car runs .
Here's the story though.
I picked the car up in may this year. A 95 tsi. The car did not come with a motor but had a lot of goodies. I had an extra 6 bolt laying around , so I rebuilt it and through it in. New bearings ,rings ,oil pump, timing belt set ,ect. The set up is as follows:
Stock 6 bolt with arp head studs ( 1g pistons rods cams ect )
Hot side :
Fp race cast manifold,7cm ported 14b and 2.75 inch on the outlet .3in turbo back
Intake:
3in custom intake, sbr fmic kit ,gmmaft with translator
Fuel:
Fic 650s, walbro 255, E85
Tuning:
Ecm link v2, wideband
Drivetrain:
Act 2900, stock trans and axels, 23x8.5 inch slicks at 8lbs

The 11.87 pass was made on 25 psi falling to about 19 by the shifts (6200ish) peak timing was 25 degrees and air fuels were around 13.1 : 1
Car pulls 1.75 60ft after a 3rd gear burn out ... I'm out of town for work but I am going to the track on Friday ..

The cars best on pump gas was at 15lbs and went 12.8 at 109. Switched it to e85 and tuning room I gained was amazing. I still believe the car has an 11.6 in it but time will tell

Wow, that's sick man.....keep it up:thumb:

It's not really that lean on e85 and the car was not showing any signs of knock ( yes the knock sensor works :) ) so the timing kept getting more aggresive.

From what I've been told you don't tune with a knock sensor on e85. You will damage things before you see knock on it. When it does finally detonate, it does so very violently compared to pump gas.

That being said both my cars indicate knock with anykind of high timing (over 18*) on e-85. Go figure....

Just a couple pics.....first of the throttle body elbow for the VR4, the second of the Talon basically the way it has sat since after running 11.49 last October. Hopefully, I can get started on some more work here this fall in prep for 2011.

I agree there is a much finer line with e85 but its not that different to work with. I had a bit of knock but acually taking fuel away solved it . A gasoline calibrated wide band will not give a true reading on e85 my 13:1 is more like 10:1 or so.

Yes, but lambda is lambda. Lambda of 1.0 is at stoich on e85 and pump gas, rich mixtures are less than 1.0, and lean mixtures are greater than 1.0.

If your WB02 display is calibrated for pump gas and your running e85 you tune for pump gas AFR's. So when your pump gas WB02 displays 14.7 your true reading is e85 stioch or 9.76:1. I tune for around 12.0 for a "safe" street tune on my pump gas calibrated WB02. Many folks make more power at 12.5-13.0 range :thumb:

I love it. I love it. I love it. The throttle body elbow and basically the whole damn car.:hellyeah: But.... Man is that elbow pretty. :D Nice work!

All this 14b talk is pissing me off.. The Galant has been running for over a month, just haven't had time to tune it. For fks sake the track will be closed soon ahaha. At that rate I'm gunna dump the 14b and go bigger (still stock housing)

Just gotta beat Nates time first. :p

And g*d damnit, where the fk are all the friggin 1gawd exhaust that were always for sale, the second I goto build this thing, all the parts that annoyed me to see re-posted every day no longer exist it seems. Took a good bit of searching to land the crap I even sourced LOL. I hope its all worth it in the end, my Talon is pissed. Although the Galant build was chump change, it is equal to probably the exact amount of money it would have taken to have the Talon where I want it at right now. :ohdamn:

Well, do it man! Let's see what this things got......

....exhaust? What do you need an exhaust for?:D

LOL, this is CA... They don't take too kindly to too much extra noise. I can ge away with a louder car because it is indeed "sleeperish" but besides that I dunno about having no DP.

I use to live 10-15min from the track, now I am 25 or so which includes the freeway (before I could take back roads) so I'd drive out there all the time in full race gear and no exhaust but now I have to travel a little too far.

Hell, I'll put it this way. The Talon has a 4" aluminum full exhaust for this very reason. Full V band so easy to remove but still its nice when you can hit the street, especially since I need to tune right now without drawing too much attention that the BOV seems to do as is.. ROFL

Ahhhh, yeah I know Cali is tough. For some reason, most likely the lack of an I/C set-up you're running, I thought the VR4 of yours was a full race effort, I didn't think it was doubling as a road car as well.......wow, 4" aluminum on the Talon, that's pretty sick! Well, hope you have a go at it soon....
