So on both my DSM's I've always run the 2g MAF and had great luck with it.

However at 25psi I'm pushing the limit of my old crushed 1g bov - and will be going to 30psi soon.

Now the deal is, i've found an AWESOME deal on a Tial bov however it can't be recirculated.

First things first, there is no real way to run an unrecirculated bov with a 2g MAF? (at least, make it run right)

Secondly, I really have never looked into the GM MAF's much. What is the MAFT, translator stuff? Do I need that?

I'm running DSMLink v2.5 for tuning with a 3bar map sensor.

Do i just need to toss the GM MAF in and be done with it?
Will i just need to change the appropriate things in link, like tell it its a GM MAF not a 2g MAF anymore?

Or will I need a complete retune just due to the MAF change.

Thanks for any help, just trying to figure out what I'm getting myself into.

  1. It is possible to run a 2g MAF and not recirculate your bov if you have dsmlink v3 software. You can use the idle air clamp settings to keep the car from going rich between shifts without recirculating it.
  2. You can't just throw in a GM MAF and be done with it, theres a few changes that will need to be made. If you download the v3 software you don't need the MAFT you can just get this GM MAF cable and make changes through dsmlink. If you DO NOT get the cable and download v3 then you will need a MAF translator and you'll calibrate airflow using it.
  3. Your cars MAF settings will need to be retuned since each MAF is different, even if you put another 2g MAF on your car some changes would need to be made.

Click the link to download v3 software ---> ECMLink v3

Thank you very much!
Do i need to actually upgrade to v3? Or can I simply just use the updated software.

I will definitely be sticking with the 2g MAF in this case.

Download the v3 software and you'll see a new tab on the side labeled Idle Air Clamp.

Not to bring this back from the dead, but buying that cable for your v2.5 and using the 3.0 software did that actually work? I sent an email to ECMtuning and then ordered the cable after seeing this thread, but I got an email back saying that it was not possible to run without a translator and use this cable on v2.5.

To use our GM MAF cable, you have to have the full V3 chip (not V3Lite or V1 or V2 or V2.5 or whatever else) installed in your ECU. The functionality to translate a GM MAF signal into something the ECU can use was simply not possible in ECMLink before V3.

Sorry about posting here, But, instead of starting a new thread, I thought that, would be better to post here, which is all ready discussing the System.

I have ECMLink V3, I have all ready a 3bar map sensor and I have Stock Maf.

So, It means that, I just need to buy the G Maf Cable and plug it to the Stock MAF Connector Like Gofer Just State it?.

I have read a lot of threads and they all say that, It needs the GM Maf, or IAT Sensor to be able run with out the Stock Maf.

If what gofer said is True, then I just need to get the GM Cable and Plug it to my stock Connector wright.
