So...my engine just crankwalked. :ohdamn:

Now I'm stuck with the ultimate decision.

1. Do I get a 6 bolt motor, and swap it over....

OR

2. Do I take a 7 bolt block I have sitting around that blew a rod to the machine shop, have it fixed up all nicely, and run 2G pistons on 1G rods, and rebuild that motor..

I know the whole hype of the 6 bolt motor, with no crankwalk and all that good stuff, but is it really worth running around with my head cut off trying to source a block? Besides crankwalk, is the 7 bolt really THAT bad of an engine??

I know there probably are 100 threads about swaps or not, but I just want to get some opinions on what's best for me, cause I NEED my DSM.. I'm going into ridiculous withdrawal. :(

Options..7 bolt, 6 bolt, or stroker..

Research then post back with the final decision...Both 6 bolts and 7 bolt blocks can handle 400 hp..

Depending on your goals..You have alot of decisions..

I know most on this site will say 6 bolt swap, but I'm one of the few that have faith in the 7 bolt motor and i don't see the point in a swap when they're the same motor (WHEN BUILT). i would never swap to a 6 bolt, but its your car.
With that being said, rebuild the 7 bolt.

When you say it blew a rod, what happened? Did the rod exit the block? Since you are in PA, PM me if you are interested in a 7 bolt bare or if anything may be needed.

It would have been an fun sight, but no haha. The engine just started knocking really bad. I may need a few things from you though. You're like 90 miles away down Route 22.

Honestly, I just need my car to run right now. That, and I'd like it to handle at least a little more power, like 350ish. I have a job, so I would go ahead and build the motor now, but I'm going to a new college in the summer, and I need to save as much as possible.
