Hey i'm doing the 6 bolt swap and i'm keeping my 2nd gen head. I was wondering which rebuild kit doi need to get the 1st gen or 2nd or am i gonna have to piece together the parts needed. sorry for the dumb one this is my 1st rebuild and its gonna be one massive learning expierince

A 2g head on a 1g block is going to be one hell of an experience for your first rebuild. Sorry no useful info but i have never taken that path before, but i would imagine that you need to worry about how rather then what you need to make it work. While knowing how to do the swap then you can answer all your own questions.

Do a search on 6bolt bolt rebuilds...

You are going to need everything for a 6bolt block. Pistons, rods, and crank. Also the frontcase, flywheel and a clutch for a 6bolt.

Everything for a 2g head.

Get a gasket kit for a 6bolt block. Then a gasket kit for a 7bolt head.

You may have to have the stud holes in the head machined larger to accomodate the larger 6bolt studs/bolts.

Use all the 2g accessories. for it.

Well yeah it should be quite interesting. But for me there is only one way to learn and that is to do it. Its kinda hard to read a book and try to understand something until you can actually get in there and see how it goes. at least for me.......oh its gonna be a long winter LOL!!!

There isn't really anything tough about it. I just went through the process and everything is bolt on, minus the enlarging of the head stud holes.

Yeah, what he said. Im just about done with mine, and I think its been pretty simple so far. I was worried about some of the stuff, like cutting the driverside mount or trying to figure out how to wire the 1g CAS into the 2g head, but once you get into it you see how simple and straight foreward it is.

You'll need to find a 1g water pipe, oil filter housing, CAS, and thermostat housing... and the other stuff mentioned so far.

Good luck.. and if you have any questions, dont be afraid to ask.
