My compression is low in one cylinder. I am debating on a 6 bolt swap or rebuild the 7 bolt. The engine has 170000 miles on it and still runs goo, I drive it every day. All the 6 bolts I find are $1300 to $2000 and a local shop said they would do the swap for $1000. I can get a rebuild kit for like $480 from slowboy. If I did the rebuild I would want to do it myself so that would save me a little money. I dont want to do a rebuild and then it walk on me, thats what I am afraid of.

My goal is approx. 300hp so I dont need a "built" engine, but it would nice to have it a little modded.

What you all do if you were me?

Id rebuild the 7 bolt. Plenty of friends down here have rebuilt theirs without issues and majority of them are well over 300 hp to the wheels. Just a turbo upgrade and supporting mods of course and 300 hp on everyday is a respectable ride.
