canada,
All "my car won't start" discussion threads are merged HERE. We've basically made it easier for those who insist upon not searching by grouping together all threads from those with similar issues so you can just scroll through and see some possible solutions. To search for info within this thread, use the "Search This Thread" feature in the black bar about 3" above what you're reading right now.

Could be anything from a loose battery terminal to internal engine damage, and literally everything in between which may involve the electrical, fuel, and ignition system...possibly even something that you screwed up while working on the car yourself. While it's unlikely we're going to diagnose and solve your problem over the internet, feel free to discuss any possible solutions.

I live in Canada and right now its not very warm out, about -30c
my car does not have a block heater too keep it warm.

I tryed to start my car this morning and it wouldent start, ive had this problem before but this time, the car doesnt crank at all it just makes a sound that sounds like an electric drill.

Whats wrong.

Thanks

Just checked all injector plugs as well as all other plugs and they are solid. Perhaps my front order is wrong? Or would it still start..

If it helps the first crank this morn it acted like my battery was almost dead then went back to normal.

EDIT also, I don't hear my fuel pump kick on on accessories.. But I JUST had that replaced about 2 weeks ago. Could I have unplugged that? I have the rewire done already.

You wont hear your fuel pump prime in the ACC or ON position. It only primes while cranking on a dsm.

Alright, I checked the inline fuse for the fuel pump and that's solid. They are the same injectors as before, if just ONE injector doesn't work the car won't start correct?

Perhaps that's the problem, I saw water ( soapy water) from when I was spraying to find my leak. I air pressured it out of the bottom connector and the top.. Maybe now it's just shorted.

What all did you disconnect when you were doing them? If you pull your spark plugs out are they soaked in gas? After it ran for 2 or so seconds on the first try, did it die right away like it was doing before? Almost sounds like you could be flooding it out.

Don't use starting fluid... yet. The fact that it starts for a second means it's getting some kind of fuel and some kind of ignition.

Haha, alright man well ill have someone double check my work.. Has to be shop unfortunately. One last question.. Am I able to check if each Injector plugs ls working correctly somehow? I appreciate all the help guys.

It's possible it's flooded, but wouldn't it be ready to rank in the morn? It's no longer starting for a second though.. Just turning and trying to start.

I would check the prongs in all the plugs to make sure none are bent, check that everything is plugged in, check that you have fuel pressure, and check the injector plugs with a noid light.

Where to go from there depends on the results of those tests.

Update: cars up and running. My mechanic came to my house and my firing order was wrong. Simple as that. Well good to know that that's what it sounds like when t order is off.. Thanks guys I appreciate it!

I have a 91 eagle talon tsi awd. New starter, battery, spark plugs, wires. Has been sitting for a couple months. I would start it every couple weeks and drive it around the block, letting it warm up, brake a few times, take it up to wot, then have it cool down, and park it. One veryyyyy cold night, I tried starting it to no avail. It didn't crank, just a click from what I would find out later to be the starter. I've checked the clutch safety switch and it works fine. When I don't press in the clutch, there is no sound coming from the starter, and when I do, the one click is evident. I asked some people, read all the no start threads from dsmtuners and dsmtalk, as well as took recommendations from several dsm Facebook pages. What many have told me and based on what I read is that I should jump the starter by connecting the positive with the positive, bypassing the relay. Well, I did that and I hear a click and a whirring sound. I did this when the key ignition was not in and when it was in and turned to the on position. So any other suggestions? My timing belt looks fine and it was running absolutely fine before. I'm really worried and completely frustrated by the whole thing. Please help.

Ya I tried jumping the car. The battery is new and I disconnect it every time after I drive it. I drove it earlier that day when it was very cold. I parked it in my driveway and went back out at night to move it to the parking lot and that's when it didn't wanna start.

Thats a thread on no start, your car wont start thats as a great place to begin, read through it might help, rule one thing out at a time, especially since it sat for so long.
