I have read threads and i posted in on i just realized was made in 2004 so i have a project it was a challenge for me on another forum. I am taking a 1999 Eclipse GS OZ Rally SPort and converting it to AWD and droping the AWD PULSAR GTIR sr20det ive done research and some say 10k some say more caould anyone give me a list of specifics i need to do. Before u bash me about getting a GSX i dont want to im taking a low end car and making it a high end

I wouldn't even swap out a ka24 for an sr20 in a 240. The sr20 motor is a decent platflorm, but there's no advantage. Infact the sr20 has weaker rods than ka, 3sgte, 4g63, or h22 rods.

And a much weaker valvetrain.

Say it with me now...."ROCKER STOPPERS". Such a cute little invention that can save a SR20DE or DET from certain valvetrain death when over-revved, which is quite common when running a modified setup that gets wheelspin. Especially when in conjunction with a standalone (like you will need to use if you even attempted to do this swap). At least the Aftermarket produces these parts to prevent total valvetrain failure/destruction. Nissan forgot to when they built the motor.

Trust me, I absolutely love Nissan Pulsar GTiR's -- they are a badass 90's-Econobox with AWD and some balls. Same goes for the NX2000 (SR20DE in stock form). They are kickass little cars.

As well, the KA, CA, RB, VG, and VQ-series engine lines are excellent platforms that have alot of capability.

Why don't you start with a Nissan first. It will make things much easier to do.

Um...I don't think a 420a would hold up to 500+whp stock like many 4g63's have. The 420a is a reliable gas mileage, 140hp engine; not high hp engine.

I NEVER said it would handle 500 hp reliably?? What Im saying is it's NOT that bad of an engine like everyone paints it to be.

I have seen plenty of 420a's in the 10's and 11's.
Then there is BulletDSM's 420a that runs 13's with NO turbo at all.

I wasn't in any way saying the 420a is better than a 4g63.
BUT it's not the pile of shit all these noobs think it is. I made Good power out of my 420a for 9 YEARS and it never once failed me. I had all stock internals too. Maybe I was lucky...or maybe I just take care of my cars...but My experience with the 420a was a good one.

SO, the moral of this story is to use that 10,000 dollars for this crazy swap he is thinking of doing, and put it into the 420a....It will be just as fast as any Nissan swap in that car.

Just MY opinion. Don't flame me up

Take a look at some of the SRT forums, they are decent motors. Just don't rev that high considering it's a 2.4L. Local company got 500hp on a log manifold out of one, being not a 420a engine, but the srt variant.

420a's are reliable, it will never be able to do what the 4g63 has done, but it can reach high horsepower levels. A 420a makes like 270hp reliably with a turbo. The head flows pretty good(theres a reason why redsled and DCR use 420a heads), its just that from the factory the bottom end limits the power output of it. I think the only reason that there isnt many 500hp 420a, is that there isn't many great ways to tune it (most people dont like resorting to wiring up a magasquirt standalone either)

"Near resonable cash pricing"? LOL... How reasonable is this swap going to be?? It makes no sense :ohdamn:

this swap doesnt have to be all at once as of the only gsx around that i could find for 4900 cash up front
this one i could put together overr time. If i wanted to spend 4900 bucks i wouldnt waist it on a fourbanger i know some people who are selling their mk 2 Supra turbo for about 5. Ive decided im just going to do basics and call it good.

Unbelievable.

It is sad that you will actually try to do this instead of listening to advice from people that actually have valid automotive experience.

Good luck with your endeavors.

Just because you can get a smoking hot deal on a last gen supra doesnt mean that you're wasting your money on a '4banger' with AWD and a 4g63 motor from the factory. But I guess that's another topic ;)

He was warned about grammar, doesn't care to listen, etc. This is done.
