Hope someone can help me out. I'm trying to find out what the difference is between the 97,98, and 99 eclipses. Is there a difference to the outer design of the 3 cars in any way? What about the interior? What about performance and features? Does anyone have front, side, and rear pictures of all 3 cars that you can give me so I can compare? Thanks.

IC. Well, I don't wanna be dull, but I don't wanna have to waste all my time fixing my eclipse. How many miles do you have on your eclipse? So far you've had no problems? On a 117k mile eclipse, you think problems might arise soon? In terms of less maintenance, which is better, the auto or manual and by how much?

If you forego the turbo and the AWD, yes, you'll have fewer maintenance issues. But if you're driving it moderately and taking good care of it (3000 mile oil changes is over-doing it, really), even the turbo cars are reliable and dependable. It's the bigger turbos, higher-boost, lowered and raced DSMs that are the most maintenance-hungry.

If you're just commuting, I'd get a GTX [or Talon TSi] with an automatic.

Would you guys say a 98 eclipse rs at 120k miles would require a lot of maintenance? I'll just be commuting with this car mainly to school and work. Would a Civic with the same mileage be a lot less maintenance? What do you think a good price would be for the 98 eclipse rs at 120k miles and pretty good condition overall?

an RS model eclipse is a totally differnet engine than the gst/x. My opinion is that they are as reliable has honda's. When I had mine it pretty much got ran into the dirt and it ran greatall the way until the day i sold it. The new owner hasnt' come back trying to get his money back or nothing so i am guessing its holding up alright. Don't forget though if you want to mod after you get out of school the rs isnt the car you are going to want.

interesting. well, the moonroof would be nice!!! looks so sexy on an eclipse. but i guess i can't get everything i want.
