So what are you working on that’s NOT your DSM?

It sounds like an internal short or perhaps an open the ignition switch is creating. Can you yank the wiring and bypass the keyed switch and test?
Turned out to be the main grounding strap to the battery. This would explain why the engine ran, but wouldn't start. The strap wasn't completely worn, but enough that it couldn't carry the current to start the engine, only run accessories.
Now on to why it won't start and run. I'm digging into the fuel pump next.

Oh, wow. Damn, man. Hey, at least you've got that figured out. I'd run at least one other ground and maybe a few more redundant grounds as well. Like the kits PFb offers.

Love the car, man. It's a killer build.

Just put a battery in my BMW. Not fun... Made me appreciate my Eclipse way more.

Is it like the VWs where you have to reprogram the new battery?

I didn't have to reprogram the Edge for the new battery, but I did have to reset the "battery management" thing. Most vehicles call for a trip to the dealership, but with the Edge there was thankfully a "cheat code" you could enter with headlight flashes and brake pedal touches to reset it.

I just don't get why it's necessary these days for modern vehicles to so overcomplicate things.

It was on my 335xi. You need to tell the system the type and capacity and reset the age since all of those make a difference in how a battery is maintained.

Yeah, on my Ford it's called the BMS or Battery Management System. You can reset it by flashing your high beams 5 times back to back and two presses of the brake pedal. Your check engine light and battery light will both pop up and flash a few times then go out. Kinda neat.

Finished up modding the intake manifold for the Monster SBC build👻for 4 corner cooling after port matching and blending the plenum. Unfortunately, it will cover up all of the "goodies" that will never be seen.

I’m omitting all the boring home stuff , the more fun stuff I’ve been working on within the last 2yrs is robotics / UAVs from scratch, using microcontrollers like the Arduino, no copy and paste and then Calling it my own . Incredibly challenging and rewarding I’ve learned so much I feel I can start implementing many of the methods algorithms in the DSM in the future!

I have some arduino stuff that I got a few years ago that I was messing with, was using a votrax sc-01 speech synthesizer chip and having the arduino send code to it to make it speak. As for robotics I have the holy grail of robots... the Heathkit Hero-1

Trying my best to get moving around today. I spent Thursday night in a busy hospital and got an appendectomy at 3 in the morning yesterday. I'm hoping for a speedy recovery because it's tough to get food or check the mail right now.
That sounds awe full and painful, any symptoms or did it just let go out of no where?

Put some more LED lighting in the garage so I can actually see in there. What a difference!
Got a little ghetto with the wiring but it does the trick.

Just about finished the SBC400. Valve lash, a few gaskets and bolts and its done. All the "pretty stuff" is about to be covered with the intake and valve covers (and timing cover and oil pan....)

Just seeing this. The pain was excruciating for a few hours before getting my first injection of morphine. Even the morphine didn't rid all of the pain, but made laying in a hospital bed a little more bearable.
I was getting random pains the night before but thought I could sleep it off. Sleeping only introduced me into a world of pain the next morning.

I'm developing scars over the 3 incisions and soreness has mostly died down. I'm back to running power equipment and working as usual.

Used a 2G rusted spare abandoned hood as practice when shooting my 1GA-6mt G
Came out a lot better than when I sprayed my 2G , still need more practice getting that gloss on there smoothly.

Watch Paint Society on YouTube. Brian does a good job of explaining adjustments and settings.

The big thing is once you get your pressure set, fan set, and flow set is getting speed, distance, and overlap right.

If you move too fast you won't get proper coverage and it's going to mist. If you go too slow it's going to run. If you don't get proper overlap it's going to stripe.

I put the stock rims back on the Lancer today. Got this storm rolling in and I have brand new Blizzaks on the front.

I also decided to take a look at my hood release as it has been giving me fits lately. That was a mistake.

I figured out that for whatever reason there wasn't enough leverage for the cable to pull the latch enough to pop the hood. If I pried up on the hood in the right spot and pulled the release 2 or 3 more times it would finally pop. It honestly hasn't been 100% right since I totaled the car hitting a deer back in 2020. I think the cable may have stretched or something

I tried a bunch of different things to make it work for now. Nothing was working. In the process of attempting different things I broke the trim piece that goes around the hood release. I also managed to break the pull for the hood release.

Aggravated and annoyed I ordered a new OEM pull, cable, and latch. I removed the grill so I have access to the latch in case it won't pop. Hopefully it all comes in this week (all bought from one seller on eBay) and I can get it working right next weekend. I'll get the trim piece whenever.

Was it laparoscopic? From the 3 incisions it sounds like it was. Usually healing time/recovery time for that is super fast as it's just a few 1" long incisions. Similar to most Gallbladder surgeries. I'm curious, but also glad you're okay and back up and at 'em. Just don't overdo it.

It was laporoscopic. I'm glad that they've improved the process. My mother had the old fashioned cross section surgery back in the day and I remember the recovery being hell. I wouldn't say my recovery was comfortable, but far better than the alternative.

Today I installed a steel door on the house. Upgrading from a hollow wood door. My helper asked what the reason for replacement was, so I balled up a fist and nearly punched a hole in the old door to show him.

Ouch, I'm glad you're back on the mend

I thought having that cystoscopy undrugged was amongst the worst pain one can endure but I think you have me beat. I got a Fenty shot for this last one..

I've been thinking of producing (3D printing) some commonly broken plastic DSM parts, either of ASA or carbon fiber impregnated, and making them available. I've seen some people do that (not members here, as far as I know) but are charging outrageous prices and I'd like to see if I could beat it. I'm not in for taking advantage of people that way.

If anyone has suggestions, shoot em over. I don't have a 1g anymore but a couple local friends do.

My first attempt at OEM will be those damn upper door card vents. My first custom job will be a lower air snorkel behind the passenger side fog lamp.

Anybody got any comments on. A 2021 jeep compass? My daughter took none of my advice and bought one. I'm reading up on the tigershark engine which if I've read correctly this one has a 2.4 version and maybe a zf 9 speed auto. Told her to stay away from jeep/dodge but she loves it. Until it leaves her stranded.

The climate controls have a tendency to give the servo motors/ac system issues as they age. I had a Compass in my shop that the ac wouldn't come on. I wired around the climate controlled with 12v and got it working but now 4 months later, the blower motor only works on high, the lady told me this week, and won't stay on. I told her the climate control was probably the issue with all of it.

Been chasing a wiring issue on a 2016 Acura MDX. Customer came in on Monday with a bunch of electrical issues. Key fob doesn’t unlock or lock car, memory seats don’t work, blind spot radar system problem on dash, can’t open fuel door, and the rear hatch does not open, but closes. Scanned codes, and all i got was “U1280 B-can system problem” Honda diag process is to unplug 12 of the B-can controlled modules one by one and clearing the code and seeing if the code goes away when one is unplugged. I said yeah… no thanks, and started using some detective skills. On the left rear interior i noticed a lot of panels were previously removed. Plastics were missing or not put back right, and so on. I removed the interior quarter panel cover, and started looking for things unplugged, and what i found was a lot of corrosion. Looks like this vehicle was in an accident and was left open to rain for quite some time. The left rear blind spot radar connector was corroded, and who knows what else has corrosion. Next week the vehicle will be getting a full body harness… wish me luck. Haha happy wrenching!

I used to buy chrysler stuff until I got sick of taking the dashes out for heater cores that constantly became clogged. I live where it gets real cold and I just became tired of it. If you live where it's hot you probably won't ever have to deal with it unless they start to leak of course. Just my experience.

At some point there was a class action lawsuit against Chrysler because the Tigershark engines excessively consumed oil. I'm not sure what the resolution was or what revisions were made to the engine, but still. Aside from that, my personal experience is not great with those. I think I can blame the average lousy owner more that the engine itself, but the same can't be said about Hondas with especially lousy owners so idk.
