hello everyone, my right popup head light dosnt work but the light itself works, does the popups have 2 fuses? one for each side? and if yes where are they located? my fues boxes are in french :|
also, anyone knows what happen if you physically hold down the headlights while they try to pop up? do they have a clutch? or a limithing switch or somothing like a window regulator? thanks alot

Check the linkage between the motor and popup assembly. That's what will likely fail or just pop apart if the light is held down.

thanks fo the reply, the linkage is good, i can turn the knob all the way up and down. (should of mention it)

Lube the pivot points and the linkage very generously. It helped mine, as it was just stiff from lack of lubrication and age.

LOL its verrrrryyyyyy smooothh.
passing control relay looks good. the pop up switch is good,

i want to rule out the motor.
anyone can tell me on which pins of the motor connector i sould get momentery 12v?

Test procedure according to the manual.

I can say with confidence that the red wire above the single unpopulated wire on the headlight motor, is one of the power wires that lowers and raises the motor. How do I know this? Because I just cut that wire on accident with a cutoff wheel, and the headlight would power on, but not raise or lower.

I'd apply power to the wires at the passing control relay plug(bypassing the relay entirely) and see if the headlights raise or lower. If they do, motors are fine. If they don't, then you have a break in the wires somewhere or the motors themselves are bad. Test continuity and all that good stuff.

Also, there is only three things that control the entire pop-up function. The pop-up relay in the engine bay fuse panel located on the passenger side near the filter, the passing control relay at the footwell on the driver's side, and the pop-up switch located near the gauge cluster. If it's turning on but not popping up, I'd bet the power wire/red w/blue wire running to the motor has been cut or severed somehow. I literally just fixed that problem today.

If the car has power door locks and they function properly, the power door lock relay is the same as the pop-up relay so you could try swapping it to see if the pop-ups begin to work again.

I would think that a bad relay would prevent both headlights from coming up though, and not just the passenger side? You're the guru here so I'm not challenging you at all, but I thought that it essentially just took a single power source and sent it out which then splits up after the relay.

Could be wrong though! And probably am.

It’s like a 2-in-1 relay. Definitely can cause one side to not work while the other works fine.

See, told you I was probably wrong. I've been pouring over these damn diagrams and FSMs and still missed this. Good catch!

In my 20 years, the relay has been the most frequent culprit when I have had issues with the pop-ups. And I’ve had 3-4 go bad.

Only one motor in that time, one passing control relay, never the pop-up switch (of course, I never really use it, either), never the column switch (which I use frequently).

Add me to the rare list of someone whose problem was the switch. IDK what was up, it was like falling apart almost, but with it plugged up the column switch would absolutely not work. Replaced it, and it fixed everything. Both lights popped up and down. Had no idea it was so vital to the operation. The first things I checked were the popup relay, the passing control relay, and even the wiring. The popup switch on the dash was a final hail mary because it was legitimately the only thing left.

Crazy.

thanks for all the replys guys, i ordered some parts and from performance partout, and i hope ill figure it out,
i have another question :)
my blinkers blinks fast (all blinkers work) no led's.
any chance it has anything to do with each other? (same power supply\grounds)
thanks alot!!!!!!!!

any chance somone has a pinout or pictures of the pop up switch and the fog light switch and the brightness pot ?with wire colors.?
the last owner of the car said he did some headlight pop up mod back in the day but he dosnt remember if he reverted it back to stock,

Usually a burned out bulb.
all the bulbs work, all 6 of them. it blinks fast at any situation (left right and hazzard)
thanks alot

I am a bit confused. Do you have the factory fog lights?
As you stated in one of your threads that your eclipse is 93. But your car has the 1GA pop-up head lights, so I guess that your car is Japanese since you are located in Asia.
Keep in mind that Japanese 1G Eclipse don't have the factory fog lights like US DSM, if you have it, that's probably aftermarket that were installed by the previous owner. Where the fog lights in 1g US DSM is turn signal for Japanese 1G, and you don't have the factory fog light switch. So you should check the wiring first how the previous owner wired, if you have some electrical issue.

My car was imported from Canada. The popups are OEM and I also have the OEM switch and OEM foglights switch :\ Fogs in picture.
It might be a 92 but it was registered in 93. :)

Doesn't matter if you imported from Canada or somewhere else. Maybe the previous owner in Canada imported from Japan or Europe, that's what I meant. Isn't the side mirror folding in the pic? If so, you have the pop-up headlights, side markers, folding mirrors and fog lights, it looks more like European, not Japanese.

I didn't think Canada got any DSMs with the European popup headlights. From what I've read all the Euro 1G's had popup headlights and that would explain the model year question.
Correct. In Japan and Europe, there was no 1GB face. All 1G had pop-up headlights. Japanese 1G Eclipse didn't come with the factory foglight. The factory fog light switch had a blank panel. So if his 1g is 92 or 93 and it has the factory foglight switch, then most likely his 1G came from Europe unless previously modified.
