Just a quick question to a guru, or anybody with knowledge on the subject.

I did a wire tuck with both ecu and chassis harness, worked out all the kinks except two, knock sensor circuit malfunction ( Weird because i just wrapped that one to shorted it and taped it ) and the headlights need to be wired still, i just need to know how to do so, there are three wires per connector, i would assume ground, low beam and high beam? im not sure, hopefully somebody can chime in and let me know what color wires should go where!. i have searched and didnt find anything relevant.

Solution
For my own information, you pulled factory headlight connectors from what, exactly? None of my diagrams show solid colors like you've stated so I'm curious.

This is the headlight connector referred to above and where the red, white striped, and blue striped wires are supposed to go. Match the physical positions up with your harness wiring to your new plug and you should be set. As always, the wire color layout is given as looking at the harness side (back) of the connector -- not looking at the face that plugs into the headlight.

The '91 FSM shows the following; I couldn't see the wires on my car well enough to verify them for you:

Red with blue to the headlight relay (power).
Red with white to the low beam control on the column switch.
Red to the in-cabin junction block where it is split to the high beam control on the column switch and the gauge cluster for the high beam dash light.

The ground is through the column switch.

Sweet!, got it !

So the same wires feed both connections, when i hooked them up like that originally one went from bright , to both being really dim.

Noticed my battery charger was only connected to the positive clamp by the rubber insulation, the wire was actually severed.. so i fixed that and charged the battery up , and voila!

i was just under the impression each headlight needed its own power source instead of sharing, but its only because my battery had 8v ROFL

Bringing back from the dead, I got my car with the headlight plugs chopped off for some shitty ass aftermarket units.

I went to the junkyard and cut off a set of factory plugs. I have 3 wires coming from the plug black, white, and red.

I wired them in as follows:
Bulb side. Harness side.
Black. Red
White. Red with white stripe
Blue. Red with blue stripe

Now what happens is the low beams are now the high beams and vise versa.
I wired in fogs logs (plugs were cut there are well, and they do work)

So when the high beam indicator is on in the car I'm actually running my low beams and when it is off I'm running highs.

Any help would be appreciated, I very much hate electrical LOL

If possible it would be like to say use this wire for this color haha

Very interesting. Pulled them from a 90 Laser RS-T

But they were wired in thus can't be factory. I assumed they were factory though
They are in the shape of|_| but upside down. There were 3 solid wires as stated above and I want to get this perfect before I go to the next step.

Everything works great with them except the entire high beams and low beams being swapped.

Then it looks like you would need to switch the red with white stripe to the black and the red to the white. That's really the only possibility since the power (red with blue) is there.

Ill try to do that in a bit, gotta take to family out shopping.

I'll post back with the results. So again I have:

Headlight plug - Harness side
Black - Red
White - Red with white
Blue - Red with blue.

And you would like me to swap to:

Headlight plug - Harness side
Black - Red with white
White - Red
Blue - Red with blue

Correct?

I finally wired my headlight up on Tuesday and wanted to let you know the results.

It works! Low is low, high is high, and it works great!

Thanks a million.
