I stayed put in the shop a little too long today with the heat index coming up to 113* after lunch. It's 11am and it's already 91*, and I started at 9:15 today, BUT.....perseverance prevails!
Here's a few pics. I'll mount up the main motor mount (J mount) and the roll stops tomorrow morning, I hope. The trans mount has all of its bolts in but they aren't tight yet.

Both motor mounts and both roll stops are in and tight. I never had a DSM powertrain slip in this easy so I will remember what I did and in what order. So easy to get to stuff without the intake or exhaust on. I'm done today. Tomorrow the T-case and DS go in along with the front CV shafts (I hope) and then the mechanical stuff is just about buttoned up, leaving just the "small' stuff.
At that point, I can move her out of the lift bay and push her into the center bay, freeing up my lift again.

TCase, DS, Front CV Shafts all in and tight and wheels are on again. Intake and exhaust come next but the humidity has stopped work for today. I feel very accomplished and I'm glad I have the tools to do the job as easy as possible!
My son lent a hand today, since he had the day off, so Thanks Son!

And with my son's 88mm Precision Turbo, it should "haul the MAIL".....
We all know he will never give that thing up. He wants it autographed now.

A little bit, every day, if possible. My old back was saying "NO" but my mind said "Get your lazy ass up and get SOMETHING done"......and I did, but now, I am done. I may NOT have an update tomorrow, as my back may say "Hold on there Wiz Kid, remember, I'm HURTIN!!!".
We'll see......
I got the Intake Manifold and all of its fittings, installed, the VC bolted on and the BR8ES's, gapped at .018", all installed, clutch slave and shifter cables installed today.

Goal for the day, DONE!
Header and Holset bolted on. NO MORE WORK TODAY. My back was in bad shape today so I asked my son if he'd help me lift the whole thing onto it's studs. He said "Hell dad, that WHOLE THING doesn't weigh as much as my Precision 88, so he stuck it on the studs for me.....then we fought the titanium nuts that didn't play well with the heat wrap, up close to the flanges, but we got it tight. I tried to bend a 10mm wrench for some clearance and BROKE it. Dam, another 10mm bites the dust.
Pictures of the day. I looked back and posted updates every day, since Sunday, I think. Not planning any tomorrow guys. We'll see.....

Well I had said earlier in this LONG thread, that the install was the part that always fought me.
This time, she just slid into place like never before, so I made notes of the way I went about it this time and it made it easy, no cussing or prying on stuff (or not much).
Put your transmission on before you put it all back in.
Here are the notes I made......

"NOTE where I hooked the chain at in the pictures, the J mount inboard stud, and on the back (intake side), I bolted it to the EGR Big Bolt that goes into the head.
The whole Powertrain sat level in that configuration. NO MOTOR MOUNTS or extra stuff were installed. With the engine crane in front of the drivers side headlight, swing it's LEGS into place under the car, and bolt the transmission mount to the frame first, then work from there. Easiest way I have found so far."
See the pictures if you don't do it this way already and I've been dumb this whole time.

Medical side of me can't resist telling you to take it easy, and don't overdo it. You can do some pretty decent damage and end up being worse off than you ever thought possible. Your body is good at telling you to stop. Listen to it.

Also: don't underestimate the power of stretching a little before you do any kind of work. You don't need to be a yoga master, just a little bit of limbering up.


That aside, progress looks GREAT. Coming from a fellow dad, it's gotta be cool to see your child prosper, and also be willing to help out the old dad. I'm enjoying my daughter's youth, but moments like that make me appreciate what's coming too. Just gotta get through the teen years...

Yeah I thought it might jar loose a funny story or something. Will have to wait until the ol' man gets up and around tomorrow I guess!

She went back to school when she was 34 and was top of her class, with honors 🎖. Was a fun 28 years......

Today's update and to keep up the daily news.....I got absolutely nothing done after work.....

In "other" news, I asked my boss to please get me a retirement counciling session. She asked "do you have a date or ASAP?".....
