I was looking in a magazine and they said that Pacesetter made a header for the turbo. Does anyone know about the quality or performance of the header?

Here's a pix of the Pacesetter wrapped. Don't have any data on it yet but it does seal and the welds are correctly placed inside the flange to reduce cracking, as per most welding techiques that I've seen. Instalation was a good fit. The #4 runner is fabbed a little shorter than the others, so not equal length. I was a little disapointed in the runner - head port size match, but my head has been gasket size ported and therefore has larger than stock ports.

We'll see how it holds up.

Ive never used the 4G63 manifold but I can say from experience that Pacesetter makes a quality longtube header for LS1 Fbodies.

Haha, my friend has pacesetter headers on his LT1 powered fbody and they are terrible. The one flange never seals with the gasket causing an exhaust leak. He replaces the gaskets constantly and is getting fed up with it. I guess its hit or miss...or maybe he was just really unlucky and got a warped/non level flange on the one header. -Matt :dsm:

are these pace setter ex. manifolds able to be fitted with an external WG flange on one of the runners? I currently run a 95 ported with an external flanged off the #1 runner. I wouldnt mind the $135 investement in the inexpensive manifold for better performance with a more sleek design. So is it possible, to fit these pacesetter manifolds with an external WG flange and if so where is the most optimal placement for the WG flange?

thanx john

i have the pace setter header on my car and i think that i works great no problems since day one my only problem and i should kick myself was not getting it armored because heat is a whole new word man i gets so hot that i have to use a rag just to pull out the dip stick but other wise i like it

Ok so I bought this manifold on ebay
Manifold 1

And it doesnt fit it is to long i would have to move my turbo up about 2 inches and remove my radiator fans. WHich would be fine if I was building a drag car but mine is daily driver.

So I was going to buy this
Manifold 2

But I was wondering if anyone had used a pacesetter one if it will fit without modification or be dumb and to long like the first one?
Thanks,

ive got a p/c mani.. its a pos ( ya get what you pay for ) i had to flatten out all the flanges and reinforce the runners ( cracks )

Ooohhh. I freakin love this.

NOTE - SOME MODIFICATIONS MIGHT BE NECESSARY ON SOME MODELS.
IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO DO ANY WORK AND JUST HAVE AN EASY PLUG AND PLAY, LOOK ELSEWHERE

Pulled straight from the Ebay auction. Hahahahaha.

Many people have had to "adjust" and "fix" the manifold before they even put it on the car.

well is anything really plug and play anymore? Unless you pay 3x the amount maybe.

My fuel pump was plug and play. My injectors were plug and play. My exhaust was plug and play. My Greddy IC pipes were plug and play. Fact is some companies take the time to manufacture a quality product that fits like it should and some companies half ass stuff and have to qoute ignorant disclaimers and sell all their products on Ebay.

as i said -- you get what you pay for :p

anything greddy is $$$$ but it will fit. (ie. my catback exhaust , fits nice looks good cost a crapload of money )

Consider many Pacesetter products to be kits.

Oh, and some parts may be missing or damaged.

I've just never heard good stuff about them. I had one of their headers on my Datsun roadster in '76. It lasted almost 3,000 miles before a tack weld blew out a hole in one of the runners.

the guy who had slower spoolup had a bigger (50 trim?) turbo right?

Summit says the collector diameter is 2", is that smaller than a hybrid 50 trims turbine hsng inlet? Whats the collector diameter of a stock 2G main, and diamter of an EVO3 mani? Whats the diameter of the turbine hsng inlet on an EVO3 16G (turbo Im about to buy)?

Seems like everybody who liked them has the tdo5 6 or 7cm turbo footprint and one with a T25.

yes, you are right. The pacesetter is only good for 7cm housings and smaller. Actaully, when I had mine, I measured it and it was a hair smaller than a fully ported 7cm turbine housing.
Their is not much room for porting of the header, and that would void the warrenty as it is.

I ordered the ceramic coated verison.

Are the gaskets included good enough for those who own these? What are they made of, Teflon or something? Theyre white in teh pics. Or should I get a stainless 7cm turbo gasket and copper exhaust gasket now. I really just want to do this once.

Then you got the wrong manifold. When you start it up make sure it's outside, cause that coating stinks when it burns off.

It wont burn off, but over time it will peel/flake off, or rust will develop underneath.. but that is probably a ways down the road, depending on where you live and the quality of the ceramic paint..

the way i see it, is if you going to do it do it right. when i went to the t/3t/4 style turbo and need a manifold with a t3 flang, i just went with a nice equal length manifold sense i payed the same price as i would of payed for the sfp. plus they are also none to work better. :thumb:
